On the morning of October 8, the photo exhibition "Where Uncle Ho stopped - Duc Thanh School Phan Thiet" took place at the Dien Bien Phu Victory Museum (Dien Bien province).
The event was organized by the Dien Bien Phu Victory Museum in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh Museum in Binh Thuan (Lam Dong province).
60 photos give viewers an overview of the Duc Thanh National Historical Site - where Uncle Ho stopped to teach from September 1910 to February 1911.
The event is a practical activity to celebrate major holidays and important events of the country, towards the 79th anniversary of Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day (November 23, 1946 - November 23, 2025); reviewing the historical and revolutionary traditions of the nation, homeland, country and people of Vietnam.
The exhibition shows respect, deep gratitude and pride in the life, career and great contributions of President Ho Chi Minh; contributing to educating the younger generation about the ideology, morality and style of beloved Uncle Ho...
The school was named Duc Thanh with the meaning of educating young people. This is a private school founded in 1907 by two sons of the patriotic poet and writer Nguyen Thong to help children of Phan Thiet people have a school to expand their knowledge and respond to the Duy Tan movement of Phan Chu Trinh.
In 1909, after dropping out of Hue National School, young Nguyen Tat Thanh gradually moved to the South with the hope that Saigon would be a place with favorable conditions to go abroad to find a way to save the country.
On that journey, to Phan Thiet, he stopped to teach at Duc Thanh School in September 1910.
Not only teaching in class, on weekends, teacher Nguyen Tat Thanh often took his students to visit scenic spots in Phan Thiet, learn about the lives of fishermen, tell them stories about the examples of national heroes; arouse patriotism and national pride...

He left a deep impression in the hearts of students and people of Phan Thiet through his simple, sociable lifestyle and his patriotism and love for the people.
Duc Thanh School was restored from 1978-1980 and was recognized as a National Historical and Cultural Relic on December 12, 1986 according to Decision No. 235VH/QD of the Minister of Culture and Information (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism).
