Promoting the effectiveness of agricultural product linkage chains in cooperatives

The final result of the chain is that the product is available on the market and is well received by businesses and consumers. By doing this, many cooperatives have contributed to increasing the value of local agricultural products. Cooperatives all want to improve their knowledge of trade promotion to continue to accompany people in production.

Increase quantity and quality

In 2024, the whole province will have 31 products from 18 cooperatives recognized as 3-star and 4-star OCOP products at the provincial level. By mid-2025, this number will increase to 43 products associated with 22 cooperatives.

According to the Provincial Cooperative Union, this result is the result of many years of cooperatives in the province focusing on developing new cooperative models according to product value chains. The cooperatives' development of production according to the chain in the agricultural sector has created OCOP products with the cooperative brand. Along with that, a number of cooperatives have built growing area codes, applied organic and biological production processes, applied scientific and technical advances on most agricultural products associated with cultivation and livestock models such as pig and chicken farming; production of rice seeds, commercial rice, high-quality rice; vegetables, fruits, mushrooms of all kinds; clean salt; products processed from lotus, pineapple, peanut oil, turmeric starch, etc.

Currently, many products of the cooperative have been expanding their consumption markets beyond the traditional scope of the cooperative. Typical examples include silkworm wine products of Hoa Phong Agricultural Service Cooperative (Tay Hoa district), clean salt of Tuyet Diem Salt Cooperative (Song Cau town), peanut oil of Xuan Phuoc Agricultural Service Production Cooperative (Dong Xuan district), incense products of Phu Long Agarwood Agricultural and Forestry Service Cooperative (Tuy Hoa city), rice paper of Phu Yen Rice Paper Cooperative...; and products processed from pineapple of Dong Din Agricultural General Business Cooperative (Phu Hoa district); high-quality rice of An Nghiep, An Hiep (Tuy An district), Hoa Binh 1 (Tay Hoa district), Hoa Thanh (Dong Hoa town), Hoa Kien 2 (Tuy Hoa city) agricultural cooperatives, lotus products of Hoa Dong cooperatives, Dong Hoa lotus...

The value of OCOP products in cooperatives lies not only in technical standards but also in the process of formation and development associated with changes in each craft village and production area. This dual strength is creating more opportunities to attract customers to local agricultural products. Every year, from trade promotion funds, cooperatives are supported to bring products to trade fairs, receive training to improve knowledge about trade, markets, etc.

Mr. Vo Dinh Hanh, Deputy Director of Department of Industry and Trade

Since the beginning of the year, the province has recorded 2 products that have achieved 4-star OCOP certification. One of them is Hoa Dong lotus powder product of Hoa Dong Agricultural Service Cooperative. According to Mr. Nguyen Dong Minh, Director of this Cooperative, the Cooperative's products meet 4-star OCOP standards as traditional local products, using modern machinery and equipment in the process of preliminary processing and packaging to ensure food hygiene and safety, with traceability according to regulations. Bringing the product from 3 stars to 4 stars, the Cooperative has changed a lot, from the production process to the way of approaching the market. Currently, the Cooperative is gradually applying digital technology to participate more actively in the digital trade market to promote consumption, increase the value of agricultural products, and increase income for growers.

Promote trade promotion

Mr. Vo Dinh Hanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, said: Trade promotion is an opportunity to produce directly to the market, bypassing intermediaries and is the shortest way for cooperatives to bring agricultural products to consumers. At the same time, this is also where direct producers have the opportunity to tell the story of their products. The value of OCOP products in cooperatives lies not only in technical standards but also in the process of formation and development associated with changes in each craft village and production area. This dual strength is creating more opportunities to attract customers to local agricultural products. Every year, from the trade promotion fund, cooperatives are supported to bring products to participate in trade fairs, receive training to improve knowledge about trade, markets, etc.

According to the Provincial Cooperative Alliance, from the 2025 trade promotion fund, the unit will support cooperatives, businesses and member units to display and introduce products at trade fairs in the South (Bac Lieu) and the North (Hanoi). The alliance also opened a training course on e-commerce promotion for 25 cooperatives. According to the plan, this June, they will continue to participate in the fair in Quy Nhon City (Binh Dinh Province).

The current demand of cooperatives is to have more access to knowledge about trade promotion. This shows that official cooperatives want to conquer the market in a systematic way. Mr. Tran Khac Hung, Director of An Thach Agricultural Cooperative (Tuy An district) said: Cooperatives, like many other cooperatives, want to learn more about e-commerce. Specifically, building personal and unit channels on the internet; how to develop brands, promotion skills, how to introduce the potential and strengths of products and goods through images, videos, etc.

Mr. Le Quang Hiep, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Cooperative Union, said: Linking activities to develop according to the value chain associated with products has been promoted. This process also helps cooperatives promote links with businesses to improve operational efficiency, solve employment problems and increase income for members. Consumption is promoted, agricultural products of members are purchased and consumed by cooperatives at increased prices. From there, household economic income increases, contributing to sustainable poverty reduction for members and socio-economic development in the locality.
