Promoting revolutionary tradition, building Ha Tinh city to develop more and more

After nearly 8 decades, the heroic echoes of the autumn days of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2, 1945 have been preserved and molded into the spirit of successive generations, arousing the aspiration to build Ha Tinh City to become increasingly prosperous and beautiful.

Since that fall

Going back in history, from the beginning of May 1945, the anti-Japanese movement in Ha Tinh town developed strongly. From July 1945 onwards, the town kept pace with the general movement of the whole province. Rallies, demonstrations, demonstrations, parades, and displays of force took place everywhere in the provincial capital and surrounding areas.

The high tide of resistance against Japan in the town contributed to the preparation for the approaching uprising to seize power. On August 14, 1945, the town's Viet Minh organization secretly held a meeting at the French-Vietnamese Primary School to listen to Viet Minh representatives talk about the domestic and world situations, and about the opportunity to revolt to seize power.

By August 17, 1945, Can Loc, Cam Xuyen and Thach Ha districts had successfully revolted to seize power. The revolutionary movement was boiling everywhere. At 5:00 a.m. on August 18, 1945, the Nam Ha Sub-region Uprising Committee sent an ultimatum to the Japanese troops stationed in Ha Tinh town, demanding that they not interfere in the internal affairs of the locality, and at the same time mobilized thousands of people from the town and surrounding areas to prepare to protest and march into the provincial governor's palace.

The leaders of the Viet Minh in the Nam Ha region sent comrades Phan Dang Tai and Nguyen Danh Duong to urgently approach Ha Van Dai to persuade the provincial governor to soon turn to the Viet Minh. Moved by comrade Phan Dang Tai, Ha Van Dai expressed his desire to contact Viet Minh cadres in Ha Tinh.

The historic meeting between Governor Ha Van Dai and representatives of the Viet Minh of the Nam Ha region lasted for more than an hour on the morning of August 18, 1945 at the provincial office and achieved good results. Governor Ha Van Dai withdrew and signed the minutes of handing over books, documents, guns, ammunition, and money to the Viet Minh Front of the Nam Ha region. The uprising to seize power in Ha Tinh was quick, neat, and was one of the earliest localities to seize power in the whole country (August 18, 1945).

After the uprising won, the people of Ha Tinh town, from young to old, men and women, poured into the streets to celebrate the victory. Everyone's face was happy and excited; the sea of people shouted revolutionary slogans. From now on, the people of the town were citizens of an independent country.

Determined to build a rich and beautiful Thanh Sen

Following the momentum of the August Revolution, over the past 78 years, Ha Tinh Town (now Ha Tinh City) has grown and developed in all aspects. Tan Giang Ward - where the struggles for power took place at that time, has now changed, becoming the central ward of Ha Tinh City. The ward's government and people have been implementing the construction of a model urban civilized ward, focusing on implementing unachieved criteria, maintaining achieved criteria; directing residential groups to build, maintain and improve the quality of the title of model residential group.

Mr. Tran Xuan Toan - Secretary of the Party Cell of Residential Group 3 said: "With the desire to contribute to building increasingly modern residential groups and wards, we have been trying to maintain and improve the quality of model residential groups, focusing on criteria on environmental sanitation, urban order...".

In addition to focusing on building a model urban civilized ward, Tan Giang ward strives to achieve socio-economic targets. Accordingly, in the first 6 months of 2023, 2 enterprises and business households were established in the area; there was an additional 3-star OCOP product, Nuoi Tieu ham. Poverty reduction, job creation, and social security were ensured, the poverty rate decreased to 1.32%...

Mr. Le Huu Hiep - Chairman of Tan Giang Ward People's Committee said: "Promoting the spirit of August Revolution, National Day September 2, while continuing to creatively apply and develop valuable lessons, the government and people of Tan Giang Ward are making efforts and contributing to building an increasingly modern urban area. In particular, focusing on building Nguyen Phan Chanh and Phan Khac Hoa streets to meet urban civilization criteria and improving the quality of urban civilized roads for recognized routes. The ward has mobilized resources to invest in urban technical infrastructure systems (drains, sidewalks, trees, small parks), up to now, 80% of the roads have been renovated".

Ha Tinh City today has made great strides, demonstrating the height of a central urban area containing many cultural sediments and aspirations to rise. The images of a poor, small town after the war have become a thing of the past. Today's city is rich, beautiful, civilized, people's lives are increasingly prosperous and happy. The socio-economic situation has improved, the urban appearance is increasingly spacious and modern.

On the roads and streets in Ha Tinh city, flags and flowers are bright to celebrate the 78th anniversary of National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2023).

Welcoming the nation's Independence Day, everywhere you go, you can see flags and flowers and the sound of singing. Urban beautification projects, expanding the drainage system, building additional units of Ho Do bridge, the eastern ring road of the city... are being accelerated and urgently completed. The city is focusing on implementing tasks in the Provincial Planning according to the pilot project to build a smart city until 2025, with a vision to 2030; adjusting the general planning of Ha Tinh city and its vicinity until 2045, with a vision to 2060...
