Accordingly, from June 1 to 6, Quang Nam General Hospital continues to coordinate with a group of Japanese doctors in a free surgery program for children with cleft lip and cleft palate.
The free surgery program signed by the Japan - Korea Cleft Lip and Palate Organization with Quang Nam General Hospital started in 2000, aiming to bring natural smiles and a bright future to those unfortunate enough to suffer from cleft lip and palate deformities, especially children.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the volunteer group from Japan accompanying Quang Nam General Hospital. Up to this point, hundreds of children in Quang Nam and neighboring areas have received surgery for palate deformities.
Professor Yamamoto Tadashi - the founder and companion for the past 25 years - at the age of 81 officially handed over the role of team leader to his son, Dr. Yamamoto Toômyoshi, from 2025.

Although he has retired behind the scenes, Professor Yamamoto still directly participates in providing professional advice and closely follows each surgery, demonstrating his dedication to the humanitarian medical career.
Through the screening in Quang Nam, the team received 25 cases of children needing surgery. Of these, 20 cases were eligible to be performed right at the hospital; the remaining 5 cases will be rescheduled for the next round to ensure safety and optimal treatment effectiveness. In addition to surgery, the doctors also provided consultation and post-operative care instructions for the patient's family.
