Delegates attending the opening ceremony of the An cư kiết hạ course PL. 2569 - DL. 2025.
According to Buddhist law, every year in the summer, monks and nuns must practice three months of retreat to restrain their body and mind, and cultivate “precepts - concentration - wisdom”. On the other hand, to meet the situation of religious activities, the need to equip themselves with new knowledge, serve the Dharma and the Nation, in order to “nourish the religious mind, dignify the Church”, benefit themselves and society, and live a good life in the heart of the nation is necessary for monks and nuns.
This year's An Cu Kiet Ha season in the province has 229 monks and nuns participating in the study and practice and is organized at 6 gathering points including: Monks' Summer School at Vien Minh Pagoda, An Hoi Ward, Ben Tre City; Vinh An Pagoda, An Thoi Commune, Mo Cay Nam District; Van Phuoc Pagoda, Binh Dai Town, Binh Dai District; Monks' Summer School at Tan Phuoc Pagoda, Tan Xuan Commune, Ba Tri District; Nuns' Summer School at Bach Van Pagoda, An Hoi Ward, Ben Tre City; Ngoc Linh Pagoda, Tan Phong Commune, Thanh Phu District. The study period is 3 months from June 11 to August 30, 2025.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the course, Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province Dang Thi Phuong said that An Cu Kiet Ha is one of the important Buddhist activities of great significance for both monks and lay people. It is the time for monks and nuns to devote all their time to studying and practicing, restraining their body and mind, cultivating "Precepts - Concentration - Wisdom", maintaining the rules, solemnly caring for the church, benefiting themselves and benefiting society, for their own benefit and for the benefit of society.
This is also an opportunity for lay Buddhists to show their respect for the Triple Gem, cultivate fields of merit through offerings, support, and create favorable conditions for monks and nuns to practice and study.
During the months of confinement, monks and nuns are nurtured and develop their level of Buddhist practice, increase their merit, morality, and spiritual power, and at the same time, practice collective life in the spirit of the six harmonies, have the opportunity to exchange and share their insights and experiences in practice, and demonstrate brotherhood and harmony. Through that, monks and nuns learn more experiences, acquire and exchange more knowledge to serve the Dharma and the nation, and effectively implement the motto "living a good life, living a good religion".
Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province Dang Thi Phuong presented gifts at the opening ceremony of the course.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee affirmed that the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front and the new communes will always accompany and coordinate in the activities of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and religious establishments during the time of reorganizing Ben Tre, Tra Vinh , and Vinh Long provinces into Vinh Long province.
