During the construction of the My Thuy Port Area project at wharf No. 1 and wharf No. 2, approximately 60,000 m3 of gray-white sand were temporarily gathered at a 3.61-hectare land area within the project area. Therefore, to avoid loss of mineral resources, the Department of Agriculture and Environment requests the Provincial People's Committee to consider and direct enterprises, relevant departments, branches and localities to coordinate in organizing the implementation of management, protection and supervision of the above volume of gray-white sand.
The My Thuy Port Project is being built in Hai Lang District by My Thuy International Port Joint Stock Company on an area of 685 hectares. The project has a scale of 10 wharves, ensuring the reception of ships with a capacity of up to 100,000 tons with a total investment of VND 15,000 billion, divided into 3 phases. The project's construction process is estimated to require about 29 million m3 of dredged material, of which about 1 million m3 of minerals are white sand.
Currently, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province has sent a document requesting the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and the Ministry of Construction to provide comments on the application for consideration of granting a license to exploit minerals within the scope of the My Thuy Port Area project prepared by My Thuy International Port Joint Stock Company.
