Quang Lang Salt Lady Temple Festival

The Quang Lang Lady Salt Temple Festival is one of the most unique and long-standing traditional festivals in Thai Binh, held in Thuy Hai Commune, Thai Thuy District. This is a national intangible cultural heritage, attracting a large number of tourists and local people to participate.

Lady Salt's real name is Nguyen Thi Nguyet Anh , born in 1280 (Canh Thin year) in Trang Quang Lang (now Trang Lang Dong village, Thuy Hai commune, Thai Thuy district, Thai Binh province) in a family working in the salt industry. According to legend, Lady Nguyet Anh often helped her parents make salt. However, every time she went to the fields, the weather was cool and cloudy, not favorable for drying salt. Therefore, her family built a boat for her to trade salt in remote areas. During one trip, her boat docked at Long Bien wharf, and was discovered by the army of King Tran Anh Tong.
