Tran Thanh Trang, born in 1996. In 2016, after graduating from school. university Tran Thanh Trang, from the Army's Department of Culture and Arts, went to China to study at the Guangxi Academy of Arts.
On the occasion Dragon Boat Festival In 2025, she was invited to participate in a special arts program produced by China Central Television (CMG), broadcast during prime time on major channels such as CCTV-1, CCTV-3, and CCTV-15. Chen Qingzhuang stated that this was the most widely broadcast program she had ever participated in and also an unforgettable milestone in her performing career.
“I feel extremely honored and happy to be chosen by CMG to represent Vietnam in the special Dragon Boat Festival 2025 program. This is a large-scale, international stage, bringing together many top Chinese stars and artists from other countries such as Princess Norodom Jenna of Cambodia…, with meticulously prepared and artistically valuable performances,” shared Tran Thanh Trang.
The special art program for the Dragon Boat Festival includes artistic performances such as poetry, drama, creative dance, traditional musical instruments, and martial arts... thereby honoring the traditional cultural values of the Dragon Boat Festival.
At the program, singer Tran Thanh Trang (Vietnam) and singers Wang Zhenliang (China), Victor Wong (Malaysia), and Princess Norodom Jenna (Cambodia) performed the song "Tam Nguyet Dong Huy".
The performance included 4 songs representing the distinctive cultural features of 4 countries: "Warm Spring, Blooming Flowers" (China), folk songs "Crossing the Bridge in the Wind" from Vietnam, the Malaysian folk song "Rasa Sayang," and the Cambodian folk song "Moonlight."
When performing "Qua cầu gió bay" on the CMG stage, she always reminded herself that she had to perform meticulously and subtly – not only in her singing but also in her stage presence, demeanor, and the emotions she conveyed. During her performance, singer Tran Thanh Trang stood out in a traditional Vietnamese ao dai, adorned with royal court patterns and lotus motifs. The image evoked the elegant and graceful beauty of Vietnamese women.
Tran Thanh Trang hopes that Chinese audiences will appreciate the gentle and profound beauty of Vietnamese folk melodies, while also experiencing the closeness and harmony when traditional Vietnamese music is subtly combined with the modern light music style of their neighboring country.
“My greatest aspiration is to spread the image of a beautiful, refined, and loving Vietnam to international friends. Through my performances, as well as interviews within the program and in Chinese media, I want to use Vietnamese music and my own voice to tell the world about my country – a Vietnam that is close, rich in identity, but also integrated and friendly. With all the respect and love for traditional music, I hope my performance will be a small bridge, contributing to spreading Vietnamese cultural values closer to international audiences,” she said.
In just two days since its broadcast, the program has garnered over 800 million views – a 25% increase compared to the same period last year. This demonstrates the program's immense reach and influence on audiences in China as well as the international community.
For Tran Thanh Trang, this is a precious opportunity and a memorable milestone in her career. “Many people in the industry have shared with me that some Chinese artists have spent their whole lives striving but still haven’t had the chance to perform on the CMG stage – so I cherish and am grateful for this special opportunity even more,” said Tran Thanh Trang.
Beyond just Vietnamese-Chinese cultural exchange, for Tran Thanh Trang, this program also opens up opportunities to meet and connect with friends from many ASEAN countries. It is also an opportunity for Tran Thanh Trang to continuously strive to spread Vietnamese music and culture closer to the regional public.
For this female artist, art and love are the greatest sources of energy for connecting people. Her invaluable experiences in China not only helped her grow artistically but also marked a journey to the heart – a place where two cultures meet, understand, and walk together.
