Vice Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Sinh received foreign business associations

CTTĐT - On the afternoon of March 14, 2025, within the framework of the event series of the Program "Meeting 2025: Lao Cai - Center for economic trade connection between Vietnam and ASEAN countries with Southwest China: Opportunities for businesses and investors"; Comrade Nguyen Thanh Sinh, Vice Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee had a meeting with foreign business associations.

Also attending the reception, on the Lao Cai province side, there were leaders of the Departments of Foreign Affairs, Finance, Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Representatives of foreign business associations included Mr. Oudet Souvannavong - President of the Lao National Federation of Commerce and Industry; Ms. Ingrid Christensen - Country Director of the International Labor Organization (ILO) in Vietnam and Mr. James Tan - Secretary General of the Malaysian Business Association in Vietnam.

Speaking at the reception, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Sinh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, expressed his joy at welcoming international delegates to this important event, and emphasized the role of Lao Cai as an economic bridge between Vietnam, ASEAN and the Southwest region of China. Recognizing its potential advantages, in recent years, Lao Cai province has been focusing on developing synchronous infrastructure, promoting administrative reform, improving the investment environment, creating the most favorable conditions for businesses and investors to carry out production and business activities effectively and sustainably.

Lao Cai has been implementing a comprehensive development master plan, focusing on key areas such as: Transport and logistics infrastructure (expanding Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway, building an airport, developing an international railway, upgrading smart border gates, building a modern logistics center) ; trade and industry (developing border gate economic zones, expanding industrial parks, promoting processing and manufacturing) ; financial services, tourism, and trade (building a financial service center, developing smart tourism, elevating Lao Cai's typical products to the international market); digital transformation, green economic development (promoting the application of digital technology, circular economy and environmental protection in socio-economic development) .

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Sinh shared some contents about the potential, advantages, and areas of focus for development in the coming time of Lao Cai province.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Sinh emphasized that today's series of events is important in promoting the image and investment and business environment of Lao Cai province. At the same time, he hopes to share with businesses about cooperation opportunities, preferential policies as well as the commitment of the Provincial Government to accompany investors. This is also an opportunity for Lao Cai provincial leaders and VCCI leaders to meet directly with ambassadors, international organizations and businesses to enhance understanding, deepen connections, and contribute to promoting investment and trade cooperation.

Sharing at the reception, Mr. James Tan - General Secretary of the Malaysian Business Association in Vietnam expressed his desire to promote cooperation between Malaysian enterprises and Lao Cai province, especially in the fields of agriculture, processing industry, trade, sustainable tourism development; contributing to promoting bilateral economic cooperation.

Ms. Ingrid Christensen - Country Director of the International Labor Organization (ILO) in Vietnam highly appreciated the event series "Meeting 2025: Lao Cai"; at the same time, she expected that the event would open up many cooperation opportunities with Vietnam in general and Lao Cai province in particular.

Mr. Oudet Souvannavong - President of the Lao National Association of Commerce and Industry informed about the potential and development advantages of Laos and wished to continue cooperation with Lao Cai province in some outstanding fields of both sides.

Listening to the opinions, wishes and proposals of representatives of foreign business associations/ILO; Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Sinh exchanged and provided more detailed information on the strengths, potentials, situation and socio-economic development plan of Lao Cai province along with the goals, programs and key projects implemented in the province. He hoped that the Business Associations/ILO would pay attention to supporting and promoting, encouraging businesses from the host country to come and explore opportunities and cooperate in investment in Lao Cai; especially investment projects in the fields of: deep mineral processing industry, tourism, services, high-tech agriculture, etc.
