The Busan Fireworks Festival is an annual event, famous for its large-scale fireworks displays, combined with music and modern lighting technology. Although the festival is usually held in the fall, in recent years, the summer version has become a new highlight, attracting many visitors thanks to the lively sea air, romantic sunsets, and the perfect combination of visual art and emotions.

The specific time is usually announced in June, but based on experience from previous years, the festival will start at 20:00 and last about 60 minutes.

The Busan Fireworks Festival is more than just an entertainment show – it is a work of light choreographed to music, with each fireworks display being linked to a theme each year, such as “Love and Peace ”, “Dreams of Soaring”, or “Light of the Future”. What makes the festival special is the use of high-altitude fireworks over the sea, combined with a stereoscopic sound system spread across the beach, creating a stunning visual and auditory effect.
Visitors will be treated to fireworks synchronized to music – from gentle, romantic preludes to explosive climaxes – bringing intense emotions, sometimes even tears, against a windy night seascape.
4. Other exciting activities not to be missed when experiencing the fireworks festival
The atmosphere of the Busan Fireworks Festival 2025 is not only bright at the moment the fireworks light up the sky, but actually bustling from the early afternoon, when the Haeundae beach area begins to welcome the influx of people. As the evening approaches, the scene here becomes more and more bustling – like a miniature festival town right on the coast.
4.1. K-pop performances and beach concerts

As early as 5pm, music began to play from the temporary main stage set up by the sea. The vibrant melodies of indie bands, interspersed with performances by street artists and modern dancers, quickly turned the sand into a giant outdoor stage. In recent years, the organizers have often invited famous K-pop groups to perform, bringing passionate performances that kept the audience on their toes. The atmosphere at that time was no different from a real summer concert, where young people could cheer, dance and “burn” themselves out before the fireworks started.
4.2. Enjoy food and shopping at Haeundae night market

As the sun sets behind the horizon, the Haeundae Night Market by the sea begins to light up – the rows of stalls lining the streets around the beach quickly attract passersby with their enticing aromas and eye-catching colors. This is the time to enjoy a portion of spicy tteokbokki, a skewer of hot fish cakes, or sip some cold beer while listening to the vibrant music from the mobile stalls. The souvenir stalls, LED lights simulating fireworks or paper fans printed with Busan images are also very attractive, creating a feeling that is both vibrant and full of Korean summer.
4.3. Experience a night cruise tour to watch fireworks

Another unique experience you should not miss is the night fireworks cruise. Departing from the ports near Dongbaekseom, luxury yachts will take you out to sea, where you can see the whole city and the fireworks display from a completely different perspective: both private and romantic. In the shimmering light from the fireworks reflecting on the sea, you can enjoy a cool cocktail, listen to jazz or light pop music on the deck – an experience not for the majority, but worthy for those who want to fully enjoy the charm of Busan's summer nights.
4.4. Take souvenir photos at the art space at Haeundae Square

Finally, to cool down the excitement, you can stroll through Haeundae Square – where LED fireworks light models are displayed. From love arches to glowing star symbols, all create an aesthetic light art space, very suitable for capturing the most beautiful summer memories.
5. Busan Fireworks Festival 2025 Travel Tips: Prepare Well – Experience Everything

Participating in the largest fireworks festival in South Korea requires careful preparation like a real "picnic". Because if you do not plan well, you can easily get caught up in the crowded sea of people, get tired from jostling or even... not see the fireworks because you arrive too late.
- Arrive early: Beachfront spots with good views are usually occupied by locals and tourists from around 3 to 4 p.m. If you arrive later than 5 p.m., you’ll likely have to stand, or you’ll only be able to watch the fireworks from a distance with limited visibility. So pack a small mat, a personal folding chair, or even a large umbrella if you’re arriving during the day.
- Preferably choose a spot near the sea but away from areas with obstructions such as large trees or temporary structures.
- Don’t forget to bring along some essentials like a hand fan, sunscreen, a power bank, a waterproof bag, and some snacks. These small items will be invaluable during the long evening, especially if you don’t want to leave your seat to squeeze into the stalls at the peak of the festival.
- Transportation: The subway is the safest option. You can easily get to Haeundae Station (Line 2), then walk for about 10 minutes to reach the beach. Don’t be foolish enough to call a taxi or use your own car after 3:00 p.m. because the traffic around Haeundae becomes extremely congested, with cars lining up for hours without moving. It’s best to choose a hotel near the beach the day before, or at least within a 15–20 minute walking distance, to avoid getting stuck in traffic jams.
- Finally, don’t forget to prepare your photography equipment if you want to bring back the most beautiful fireworks moments. A phone with night mode, or a compact camera with adjustable exposure will be a “great assistant” for you to record the brilliant sky with the cheers of thousands of people around. And if you shoot video, don’t be afraid to record the whole hour because the music, the sound of the waves and the vivid emotions of that night will be something you will want to remember forever.
The Busan Fireworks Festival 2025 is not only a light art event, but also an opportunity for you to experience Korean culture, cuisine and people. If you are planning a trip to Korea in the summer , do not miss the opportunity to participate in this festival to create unforgettable memories.
