This is an important event, marking the transition of leadership generations and opening a new development stage for the National Economics University.
At the ceremony, on behalf of the leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training, Deputy Minister Hoang Minh Son sent congratulations to the lecturers, officials and students of the National Economics University through the periods and especially Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong, who was trusted and chosen by the collective leadership and key staff of the school.
After nearly 70 years of construction and development, the National Economics University has become one of the leading centers for training, research, and economic-management policy consulting in the country, having a profound influence on the development of the capital, localities, and many key sectors. This is also a successful model of a comprehensive autonomous university, with a pervasive impact and positive influence on the entire Vietnamese higher education system.
Deputy Minister Hoang Minh Son emphasized that our country is facing the requirement of rapid and sustainable development, improving internal strength, and enhancing national competitiveness. The Politburo has issued strategic resolutions, in which it especially emphasizes the role of science-technology-innovation and high-quality human resources as pillars of development. In the near future, a separate Resolution on breakthroughs in education and training development will be issued by the Politburo, along with the Law on Higher Education (amended) to establish strategic orientations for higher education to develop in a breakthrough manner in the new period.
In that context, higher education in general and key universities such as the National Economics University in particular play a particularly important role, becoming a center for training high-quality human resources for the fields of economics, management, finance, technology, and public policy; a place to produce and spread new knowledge, leading innovation in economic thinking and development models; an important academic and policy partner of the state, businesses, and society; at the same time, deeply integrating internationally in academia, representing Vietnamese universities in the region and globally.
From those requirements and expectations, Deputy Minister Hoang Minh Son requested that the National Economics University continue to promote its pioneering role in innovating training programs and methods associated with digital transformation and artificial intelligence application, promoting scientific research, innovation, business cooperation and internationalization, and expanding development space. This is a task not only for the entire university, but especially for the leadership team and the University President himself.
According to Deputy Minister Hoang Minh Son, Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong is a person who grew up at this school, was well-trained, had rich practical work experience and held many important management positions; is a person who deeply understands the value system and development aspirations of the National Economics University, and at the same time has a reformist, open-minded and decisive mindset. The fact that Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong was entrusted with the position of University President is not only a testament to his personal capacity, but also demonstrates the solidarity and great expectations of the school as a whole as well as the trust of the state management agency.
In his new position, Deputy Minister Hoang Minh Son expects Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong to inherit and promote the core values that have been built over many terms; promote governance innovation, modernize the university model, promote autonomy along with social responsibility; build a team of professional, dedicated, and capable lecturers and staff; and at the same time create a dynamic, innovative and creative academic and startup ecosystem, arousing the spirit of openness and civic awareness in each student.
Deputy Minister Hoang Minh Son believes that, with the consensus of the leadership, staff, lecturers and with the solid foundation of the school, Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong will successfully complete the assigned responsibility, leading the National Economics University to continue to step forward, develop sustainably, not only maintain its position as the leading university in the country but also have influence in the region and the world, making an increasingly greater contribution to the cause of education and the development of the country in the new period.
In his acceptance speech, the new Director of the National Economics University, Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong, affirmed that generations of leaders of the National Economics University through the periods are exemplary models of intelligence, courage and dedication. The successes and marks that the teachers left behind are precious legacies, motivation and responsibility for the school's leadership to continue writing glorious pages of history for the National Economics University.
Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong acknowledged that we are living in a world of many changes, when higher education has gone beyond national borders, becoming an inseparable part of the globalization process, of the explosive development of the scientific and technological revolution, of digital transformation and the rise of artificial intelligence. Vietnam is entering an era of strong growth, with breakthrough Resolutions of the Central Committee setting out new directions for socio-economic development, education and training, science and technology and the intellectual team. Those changes are strongly affecting the mission, organizational model and operation methods of higher education institutions.
“The new context is both an opportunity and a challenge for the National Economics University to continue to affirm its pioneering role in the Vietnamese higher education system and reach international standards. That requires us, on the one hand, to continue promoting the core values that have been nurtured through many generations; on the other hand, to have new strategic development orientations, with specific and drastic action programs to bring the National Economics University to stronger development in the new era,” Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong emphasized.
Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong also expressed that becoming the Director of the National Economics University is a great honor, but also a challenging responsibility. He affirmed that he will strive to contribute with all his intelligence, enthusiasm and spirit of service to respond to the trust of the leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training as well as the love and trust of generations of leaders and the school's teaching staff.
“I believe that, with the determination, solidarity and unanimity of the school’s teaching staff, we will follow in the footsteps of previous generations to build the National Economics University into a research-oriented university, among the top 5 universities in Vietnam and strive to be in the top 100 best universities in Asia, with a high ranking on the World Rankings”, Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong said.
