Netizens are excited
As reported by Thanh Nien newspaper, as of noon today, March 10, 3 members of the Super Junior group including Siwon, Eunhyuk and Shindong have arrived in Ho Chi Minh City. The remaining members of Super Junior are preparing to arrive in Ho Chi Minh City on March 10 and the morning of March 11, to prepare for the show "Super Junior World tour - Super show 9: Road in Ho Chi Minh" held on the evening of March 11 at the Military Zone 7 Stadium (Ho Chi Minh City).
Pho Hoa is crowded with customers this afternoon.
At this time, social networks are excitedly sharing photos of members of this famous band stopping by a pho restaurant on Pasteur Street (Ward 8, District 3) for lunch. Not too unfamiliar, this is Pho Hoa restaurant, one of the familiar eateries of Ho Chi Minh City residents and international tourists that has existed for more than half a century.
Super Junior was the first group to have the largest number of members in the Korean entertainment industry when they debuted with a lineup of 13 members. Attacking the Korean music scene in 2005 under the management of SM Entertainment, the group quickly became one of the most beloved Kpop idol groups in Korea as well as many Asian countries.
Super Junior World tour - Super show 9: Road in Ho Chi Minh is a concert in Super Junior's world tour series. This is the second time Super Junior has held a show in Vietnam. In 2011, the owners of the hit Sorry Sorry performed the Super Show 3 concert in Binh Duong.
Sharing with reporters, Ms. Tram (47 years old, restaurant representative) confirmed the above information. She said that this afternoon, it was the peak time for the restaurant to welcome guests. "There was a group of about 4-5 Korean guests wearing tight masks entering the restaurant and then going upstairs. At first, I didn't know what famous artists they were, because my restaurant has many Korean and Western guests coming to eat," she recounted.
The restaurant was surprised when the Super Junior band visited to eat.
Pho Hoa is currently priced at 95,000 - 105,000 VND/bowl.
It was not until she looked out the front of the restaurant and saw a crowd of young people holding their phones to film and take pictures that she and everyone in the restaurant asked and learned that this was a famous band. Ms. Tram said they ordered basic bowls of pho for 95,000 VND, ate for about 15 minutes and then quickly left.
“They came without notice, which surprised me a bit. However, no matter who comes to the restaurant, I and everyone here try to serve them as attentively and carefully as possible so as not to disappoint them. I am proud that the restaurant has been chosen by music groups or celebrities as a destination to enjoy Vietnam's famous pho," she added.
54 years of ups and downs with Ho Chi Minh City
After 4pm this afternoon, when I visited the restaurant, Pho Hoa was still the same, although it was not peak time to welcome customers, the restaurant was still crowded. Most of them were tourists , and the rest were Ho Chi Minh City residents coming to enjoy this bowl of pho. 12 people in the restaurant, mainly relatives and family members, were busy with work, trying to bring hot bowls of pho to customers so they wouldn't have to wait long.
Pho Hoa's flavor has "fascinated" customers for the past decade.
Ms. Tram confided that her mother, Ms. Nguyen Thi Xiem (77 years old, owner of the pho restaurant), because of her advanced age, handed over the management to her brother, and only came back to the restaurant occasionally with her children and grandchildren. Ms. Tram and her brother's relatives maintained and promoted the restaurant that had been passed down through 3 generations, since her grandmother's generation.
Talking about the name Pho Hoa, Ms. Xiem once shared that nearly 60 years ago, Pasteur Street was also called "Pho Street" because there were more than a dozen pho carts selling on this street, even though it was only a dozen kilometers long.
Back then, every afternoon, she, her mother and stepfather would push the pho cart out onto the street and move in at 12 midnight. The name Pho Hoa was named after a man named Hoa who sold pho on the street, with a dilapidated cart. Every day, Mr. Hoa would push the cart and walk nearly 20 kilometers from Xom Moi Market (Go Vap District) to Pasteur Street to sell.
“It was also fate that he left the pho stall to my family, and did not hesitate to pass on many cooking secrets. My mother and stepfather were also diligent in learning and researching, so when they took over the pho stall, they also received satisfaction from customers. Because we wanted to repay Mr. Hoa's kindness, my family did not change the name of the restaurant but kept the name Pho Hoa from that day until now," Mr. Xiem shared.
The restaurant is a familiar destination for many tourists when coming to Ho Chi Minh City.
As a regular customer of this pho restaurant, this afternoon Mr. Thanh Nhan (28 years old, living in District 3) also visited the restaurant. He said that he had not visited Pho Hoa for more than half a month because he was busy with work. This afternoon, he accidentally read the news that a famous Korean music group visited his "favorite" restaurant, so suddenly his craving for pho... arose.
“When I lived in Binh Thanh, I only came here occasionally because my house was far away. But now that I’ve moved here, it’s more than 1km away, so it’s convenient. Pho Hoa is expensive compared to the general market, with prices ranging from 95,000 to 105,000 VND, but I’ve rarely seen anyone complain about it, because you get what you pay for. This restaurant is always crowded,” the customer commented.
