Deputy Prime Minister directs the management of electricity and gasoline prices

(Dan Tri) - Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc requested close monitoring of market price fluctuations, especially essential consumer goods and services.

The Government Office has just issued Notice No. 459 on the conclusion of Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc - Head of the Steering Committee for Price Management - at the Steering Committee meeting on the results of price management and operation in the first 7 months of 2025, and orientation for price management in the remaining months of the year.

The Deputy Prime Minister requested close monitoring of market price fluctuations, especially of essential consumer goods and services. From now until the end of October, ministries and branches need to develop a price management plan for 2026 for goods under their management and report to the Price Management Steering Committee to be proactive in management for the following year.

Ministries, branches and localities are responsible for organizing and closely monitoring the supply and demand and market prices of goods under their management to have appropriate management measures.

Regarding electricity, the Deputy Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Industry and Trade to direct the Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) to thoroughly implement cost-saving solutions and increase production and business efficiency to optimize and reduce input costs.

Regarding petroleum, the Deputy Prime Minister requested that in the context of conflicts and geopolitical fluctuations in the world that could affect petroleum supply, the Ministry of Industry and Trade needs to implement solutions to ensure supply for the domestic market in all situations and manage petroleum prices according to regulations.

At the same time, the Ministry will study to diversify the supply of gasoline and oil; strengthen market inspection and supervision, strictly handle violations; prevent shortages and disruptions in gasoline and oil supply... Urgently complete legal documents on gasoline and oil business management in accordance with reality and market mechanisms.

Regarding construction materials, the Government leader assigned the Ministry of Construction to closely monitor developments in the construction materials market, especially for key materials serving key public investment projects.

Along with that, urge the People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities to deploy solutions to handle issues related to construction material supply in the area, report to the Prime Minister on solutions to ensure supply and demand, and stabilize construction material prices.

Regarding land and real estate, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and the Ministry of Construction are required to coordinate with the People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities to have synchronous solutions to manage the real estate market to operate healthily, suitable for people's lives, focusing on removing difficulties and obstacles regarding supply and real estate speculation.

Regarding the price management of other important and essential goods, ministries, branches and localities are responsible for organizing and implementing price management tasks according to the assigned authority and responsibility of agencies and units as prescribed in the Law on Prices and guiding documents.

Ministries, sectors and localities also need to organize and closely monitor the supply and demand developments and market prices of goods under their management to have appropriate management measures. Thereby, proactively forecast and have plans to ensure balance of supply and demand, especially during times when the market has high demand for essential goods, to avoid shortages and disruptions in supply that cause sudden price increases.
