Opening the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan, Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, read a letter from General Secretary To Lam to the school.
The General Secretary suggested that the school continue to develop breakthroughs, combining tradition and innovation, striving to have some fields of social sciences and humanities ranked in the top 150 Asian universities by 2030.
The General Secretary also hopes that the school will continue to be a place to nurture talents, create knowledge, contribute to building the cultural foundation of Vietnamese people and spread the good values of the nation to the world.
Professor Hoang Anh Tuan said that the General Secretary's directive is a great encouragement for the school to make a breakthrough in its development strategy to 2035, with a vision to 2045.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long said that Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW of the Politburo identified high-quality human resources and scientific and technological talents as the driving force and competitive advantage of the country.
In that context, social sciences and humanities are identified as the foundation for sustainable development, meeting the requirements of national development in the new period.
Without strong basic science, there can be no breakthrough applied science, and even less can there be an independent and sustainable development strategy.

"With its position as the country's leading center for social sciences and humanities, the school needs to take the lead in basic science research and training, contributing to preserving and developing fundamental cultural values, while opening up new approaches in training, research and policy consulting," the Deputy Prime Minister directed.
In the same spirit, the Deputy Prime Minister suggested that the school continue to strongly innovate the training and fostering model, linking basic science and applied science; promote high-quality scientific research, especially works with theoretical and practical value.
In addition to requiring the school to proactively integrate internationally, the Deputy Prime Minister asked the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to continue promoting its pioneering role in humanistic digital transformation.
"Digital transformation is not just about applying technology but also requires a way of thinking, a way of living, a way of working, a way of communicating on a digital platform, towards digital humanity, digital culture, responsible digital citizens, contributing to building a national open knowledge ecosystem," the Deputy Prime Minister affirmed.
Previously, at the conference to promote digital transformation in the education sector, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc affirmed that digital transformation is no longer an option, but an inevitable trend that determines national competitiveness.
From industry data, digital transcripts to "digital literacy" platforms, digital transformation is gradually permeating every classroom and every school from universities, colleges to high schools with the goal of universalizing digital skills for all people, especially vulnerable groups.
Digital transformation is not only aimed at modernizing administration or improving the quality of education, but also aims at universalizing digital skills for the entire population, especially vulnerable groups. Digital transformation is so that no one is left behind.
