The Vietnamese Village in Morocco is home to a community of Vietnamese origin who have been in the country for more than half a century. It is home to 7 of the nearly 80 families whose husbands are Moroccan veterans who fought alongside the Viet Minh against the French. These veterans, who have Vietnamese wives, returned to their homeland in 1972 under an agreement between the two governments and were granted land by King Hassan II to do business and live.

Here, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thanh Nga and the delegates visited the residences of some households, met and talked intimately with the people; and visited the Vietnam Gate. Along with the Vietnam Gate here, the Morocco Gate in Ba Vi ( Hanoi ) was built in 1963, becoming a symbol of solidarity and friendship between the people of Vietnam and Morocco.

In a warm and sincere atmosphere, the people shared touching stories about life in Morocco, about their deep homesickness, and their tireless efforts to preserve their mother tongue, maintain traditional customs such as: celebrating Lunar New Year, making banh chung, worshipping ancestors and teaching national culture to the younger generation born and raised in Morocco. In addition, they also proposed a number of recommendations to further strengthen the connection with the country, improving daily living conditions in the host country.

In a friendly conversation with the villagers, the wife of the National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thanh Nga expressed her deep emotion when she saw that the village still retains the unique cultural features of the Vietnamese people and is the place where generations of Vietnamese descendants in Morocco return.

The stories shared by Vietnamese grandmothers about preserving their mother tongue, celebrating traditional Tet, wrapping banh chung, cooking sticky rice, boiling chicken to worship ancestors, and growing Vietnamese fruit trees such as bananas, grapes, lemons, mangoes, etc. have affirmed the spirit of persistently preserving the national cultural identity.

The work imbued with Vietnamese culture is not only a mark of friendship, but also a source for future generations to always remember the Vietnamese roots, cherish the common memories of the two peoples and contribute to the development of relations between the two countries.
