Phu Tho prosecutes 5 subjects for producing dozens of tons of fake food

The Investigation Police Agency, Phu Tho Provincial Police, has issued a decision to initiate a criminal case, prosecute the accused and issue a temporary detention order against Nguyen Van Hung (born in 1980, residing in lane 378, Nguyen Tat Thanh Street, Viet Tri Ward, Phu Tho Province) for the crime of "Producing and trading in counterfeit food products", according to Article 193 of the Penal Code.

Police inspected the counterfeit goods warehouse of Famimoto Company Limited, directed by Nguyen Van Hung.

According to the investigation agency, in 2019, Nguyen Van Hung registered to establish Gia Dinh Production and Trading Company Limited; in April 2022, the name was changed to Famimoto Vietnam Company Limited with Hung as director.

Business activities include bottling and packaging monosodium glutamate (MSG) and cooking oil; producing seasoning powder and seasoning powder.

The company's headquarters is registered at Team 12, Trung Vuong Commune, Viet Tri City (old), now Viet Tri Ward. However, production activities often change the location of the production warehouse. The workers are mainly acquaintances and relatives of Nguyen Van Hung.

The investigation agency has requested appraisal of all shipments of MSG, cooking oil, seasoning powder and broth powder products produced by Nguyen Van Hung's company that are still in the company's warehouse and the goods recalled from the market.

Through the investigation, the counterfeit products were identified as follows: “Boat Brand Premium Cooking Oil” including batches produced in October 2024, March, April 2025; “Fami Gold Vegetable Oil” including batches produced in November 2024, April 2025; “Boat Brand Soybean Oil” batch produced in January 2025.

“ Hanoi Premium Seasoning Powder” produced in February, March, April 2025. “Hong Viet Kitchen Seasoning” produced in April 2025; “Hung Vuong Seasoning” produced in January, March and April 2025; “BOAT BRAND Seasoning” produced in April 2025 and “HORECA Seasoning” produced in March 2025.

To date, the police have seized more than 40 tons of MSG, 22 tons of seasoning powder, nearly one ton of broth powder, more than 71,000 liters of cooking oil, more than 84 tons of additives, and more than 1.5 million packaging shells and plastic cans to contain products, along with production and packaging lines and equipment.

Director of Phu Tho Provincial Police Nguyen Minh Tuan directly inspected the counterfeit production process of Famimoto company.

The investigation determined that, in order to publicize his products, from 2022 to 2024, Nguyen Van Hung contacted and requested the Deming Quality Productivity Institute, address: No. 28 An Xuan, An Khe Ward, Da Nang City, to issue a total of 22 fake test result certificates (without testing).

On May 15, the Investigation Police Agency initiated additional prosecution in the case of forging documents of agencies and organizations; using forged documents of agencies and organizations; prosecuting Phan Van Chien (born in 1976, residing in group 16, An Hai ward), Le Trong Nhan (born in 1977, residing in group 39, An Khe ward, Da Nang city), Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoai (born in 1994, residing in group 1, An Khe ward, Gia Lai province) and Tran Thi Ngoc Hien (born in 1994, residing in Lang Son village, Krong Pac commune, Dak Lak province).

These are people from the Deming Institute of Productivity and Quality who directed and carried out the issuance of fake test certificates for the crime of falsifying documents of agencies and organizations, according to Clause 3, Article 341 of the Penal Code.

Including temporary detention for Phan Van Chien, Le Trong Nhan and Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoai; and measures of prohibiting leaving the place of residence and temporarily suspending exit from the country for Tran Thi Ngoc Hien.

On the same day, the Investigation Agency additionally prosecuted Nguyen Van Hung for the crime of Using fake documents of agencies and organizations, according to Clause 2, Article 341 of the Penal Code.
