In addition to the 911 Cup, designed for single-brand racing, Porsche also introduced the upgraded 911 GT3 R version to participate in GT3 racing competitions proposed by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). The 2026 Porsche 911 GT3 R will benefit from a number of suspension and styling improvements, designed to deliver "more balanced handling and better drivability."
Starting with the styling, the latest model features new air intakes on the front wheel arches. They improve aerodynamics and help counteract frontal downforce when decelerating. At the rear, the car is equipped with an upside-down swan-neck rear wing with a small Gurney fin that adds downforce. The underbody is also fully enclosed to reduce drag, while the anti-lock braking system is upgraded and the aerodynamics are optimized to reduce rear downforce under hard acceleration.
On this new 2026 Porsche 911 GT3 R sports car, engineers installed new ceramic wheel bearings and modified centering pins to simplify driveshaft installation. The model also benefits from improved brake and power steering cooling systems. An adjustable driver air vent ensures consistent air circulation in the cockpit. Other highlights include a removable USB data recorder, allowing for easy access to the car’s telemetry data. Porsche has also fitted a number of packages as standard in the past, including the sensor package, endurance package, pit lane connection package, and camera package.
Power is provided by a 4.2-liter flat-six engine, producing up to 557 hp (416 kW / 566 PS). However, the actual power will be decided by the race organizers depending on the conditions of each specific race. Video : Introducing the new Porsche 911 Cup and 911 GT3 R 2026.
