The Da Nang City Military Command has established a forward command post to deploy measures to respond to landslides.

Previously, at around 9:30 a.m. on November 14, at the upstream area, about 250 meters from the local dam and Ga Ry Border Guard Station, a serious landslide occurred. The rock and soil from the mountain top poured down like a waterfall, burying some of the local farming houses and more than 200 meters of road.

Authorities recorded that 3 people who went to work in the fields lost contact and were suspected to be buried. The victims include: Mr. Zo Ram Nho, Mrs. Briu Thi Tep and her grandchild Hoi Zi Nut, all residing in Put village. In addition to the loss of life, the landslide also damaged 3 motorbikes, 9 cows and 15 hectares of land belonging to the people.

Immediately after the incident, the City Military Command directed the Defense Command of Zone 2 - Thanh My and local forces to urgently approach the scene. More than 100 officers, soldiers, militia of Hung Son commune, Ga Ry Border Guard Station, commune police and local authorities were mobilized, using flycams and equipment for search and rescue work.

Faced with the risk of further landslides, authorities organized an emergency evacuation of 84/314 people in Glao village and 87/350 people in H Jun village to safety.

Scene of the landslide

The forward command post was established right at the scene, with Lieutenant Colonel Tran Kim Tuan, Deputy Commander of the Da Nang City Military Command, directly directing and operating search and rescue teams, supporting the evacuation of people from the dangerous area. Currently, the rescue work is still facing many difficulties because the mountain continues to collapse.

In the context of prolonged heavy rain, steep terrain and a very high risk of further landslides, the City Military Command requested forces to maintain the highest state of readiness, actively searching for the 3 missing victims with a spirit of speed but absolute safety. At the same time, the unit continues to closely coordinate with the locality to support people in evacuation, protect people's property and maintain stability in the locality.
