Russian troops close in on remnants of Ukrainian troops in Myrnohrad

Russian troops have closed a tight siege around the remnants of Ukrainian troops in the Myrnohrad urban area in the city of Pokrovsk; the Ukrainian troops cannot escape.

News of victory for Moscow continues to come from the Pokrovsk-Mirnograd front area. According to Russian media reports, the Russian Armed Forces (RFAF) have completely suppressed the remaining resistance of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the far northeastern district of the city, along Zaporizhzhya and Rodynskaya streets.

At the same time, the Russians controlled the area along the Verbitsky road, including the railway line leading to the city. All this means that the encirclement of the remaining Ukrainian garrison in the Pokrovsk-Mirnograd region is now completely sealed. All AFU attempts to relieve Myrnohrad have so far failed.

In this regard, questions are increasingly being raised in Ukraine not only to the Commander-in-Chief of the AFU, General Syrsky, but also to the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU), General Budanov. Questions to General Budanov are related to the recent operation under his direct command.

This was the widely publicized “Operation to Clear Pokrovsk,” which used three Black Hawk helicopters. It was clear to Ukrainian public opinion that the operation was aimed at clearing, but certainly not at rescuing, all of the Ukrainian defense forces stationed in Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad, but at saving some “very important” figures.

According to the former Deputy Chief of the AFU General Staff, General Ihor Romanenko (retired), who appeared as a military expert on Ukrainian television, General Syrsky's plan to break into the Myrnohrad urban area from the north is "impossible", despite some AFU successes at the “Dobropillia salient”.

Romanenko also does not believe in General Syrsky's plan to relieve Myrnohrad, where he said two AFU brigades are still stationed. According to Romanenko, AFU attempts to break through Myrnohrad from the north will lead nowhere, and the situation for the besieged people in the city is deteriorating by the hour.

“The situation is developing in such a way that it is necessary to make a decision regarding Mirnohrad, because if the situation in Pokrovsk worsens further, it will be difficult to ensure logistical support,” the former Deputy Chief of the AFU General Staff said.

Mr. Romanenko is demanding a quick decision on Myrnohrad, otherwise it will be too late. But in fact, Mr. Romanenko's request is now too late; because the Ukrainian military garrison in the urban area of ​​Myrnohrad, is completely surrounded by RFAF. This decision should have been made three weeks ago.

Currently, the Ukrainian defense forces in the encirclement are still receiving supplies from heavy 4-axis or 6-axis UAVs, but that is just a drop in the bucket. Obviously, Mr. Romanenko still does not grasp the real situation in Pokrovsk and still believes that "the situation is still under control" as announced by the AFU General Staff.

Rybar channel reported that the shock units of the 51st Army, RFAF Central Group, had broken through from the south of Myrnohrad, gaining complete control of the village of Sukhoi Yar. Russian media also reported the news and the Russian Ministry of Defense also confirmed this information.

Shock units of the 5th Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 51st Army of Army Group Center continued to tighten the encirclement around Myrnohrad. Inside the city, the offensive continued in the Vostochny district, to the south and towards the Zapadny district.

The Military Summary channel said there was "good progress" from the south; Russian troops had taken full control of the village of Sukhoi Yar. This village, along with Myrnohrad, was surrounded by Russian troops and was about a kilometer from the southern outskirts of the city.

Meanwhile, Russian Air Force fighters are currently actively bombing to support ground forces in the Myrnohrad urban area, bombing targets being identified fortified targets, Ukrainian resistance nests, command posts and UAV operating units.
