Quang Binh establishes Center for Forest Protection and World Heritage

TPO - The People's Committee of Quang Binh province has just issued a decision on the establishment of the Center for Forest Protection and World Heritage on the basis of reorganizing the Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park Forest Protection Department, under the Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park Management Board.

Accordingly, the Center for Forest Protection and World Heritage   is a public service unit under the Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park Management Board; under the direct management, leadership and direction of the Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park Management Board in terms of organization, job positions, number of employees and work.

Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park rangers patrol the heritage forest.

The Center has legal status, its own seal and account at the State Treasury and banks, operates as a public service unit, and implements a financial autonomy mechanism according to the provisions of law.

Regarding the organizational structure, the center's leadership includes a director as the head and deputy directors. The number of deputy directors is implemented according to current legal regulations.

Regarding the departments and equivalents of the center, reorganize the internal organizational structure of the center from 15 stations, teams, and sections into 14 departments, teams, and forest protection stations. The number of employees of the center when it was established was 129 career positions, receiving salaries from the State budget.

When becoming a center, some functions and tasks will be limited compared to the previous forest ranger station.

Mr. Pham Van Tan - Head of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park Forest Protection Department - holds the position of Director of the Center for Forest and World Heritage Protection. According to Mr. Tan, the center will have some limitations in terms of functions and tasks compared to the forest protection department.   Previously, the Center was not allowed to prosecute cases and was not allowed to use military weapons in forest protection activities.
