Quang Binh passes Resolution on commune arrangement and province merger

At the meeting, 100% of the People's Council delegates approved the policy of rearranging commune-level administrative units of Quang Binh province in 2025. According to the Project on rearranging commune-level administrative units of the province, after the rearrangement, Quang Binh province will have 41 communes and wards left (36 communes, 5 wards).

In which, Dong Hoi city is arranged into 3 wards: Dong Hoi, Dong Thuan and Dong Son; Ba Don town is arranged into 4 communes and wards (Ba Don ward, Bac Gianh ward, Nam Gianh commune, Nam Ba Don commune). The names of communes and wards in Quang Binh province are not in order.

Some district, town and city names were given to new communes to preserve historical elements such as Dong Hoi ward, Le Thuy commune, Ba Don ward, Minh Hoa commune, Tuyen Hoa commune, Quang Trach commune, Phong Nha commune, Quang Ninh commune...

Quang Binh province has directed specialized agencies at the provincial, district and commune levels to organize a consultation with voters on the Project on rearranging commune-level administrative units of Quang Binh province in 2025. The process of organizing the consultation with voters was public, democratic and in accordance with the law; there were no complaints or denunciations related to the Project on rearranging commune-level administrative units of Quang Binh province.

As a result, 143/144 commune-level administrative units had a voter approval rate of 50% or more, of which 132 administrative units had a voter approval rate of 90% or more.

At this session, delegates of the People's Council of Quang Binh province approved the policy of arranging the entire natural area and population of Quang Binh province and the entire natural area and population of Quang Tri province to establish Quang Tri province with a 100% approval rate.

Quang Tri province (after rearrangement) has an area of ​​12,699 km2, a population of more than 1,845,000 people, the administrative - political center of Quang Tri province (after rearrangement) is located in the current Quang Binh province.

The approval of important resolutions by the Quang Binh Provincial People's Council at this session is considered a strategic step, demonstrating high political determination, towards building a streamlined, effective and efficient government apparatus, while expanding development space and maximizing the potential of the North Central region in the coming period.
