Quang Ninh strives to become an international tourist center

In the jubilant atmosphere of the first Clipper Round the World Yacht Race in Quang Ninh province, on February 28, Quang Ninh province held a conference to promote, advertise and attract tourism investment.

Speaking at the opening of the Conference, Chairman of Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee Cao Tuong Huy said that participating in Clipper Race activities in the 2023 - 2024 season is identified by Quang Ninh province as one of the key tourism promotion, advertising and investment attraction activities of Quang Ninh province in 2024 and the following years.

According to Mr. Iain Grant Frew - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom to Vietnam: “Quang Ninh has the experience, facilities and expertise to host international events. Sports and events tourism is becoming increasingly important to the destination's economic portfolio. The series of events held this week for the Clipper Race team demonstrates the growing capabilities of Quang Ninh. Our crew enjoyed the walks, culinary experiences and especially Ha Long Bay”.

With the desire to create high-class tourism products to better serve the needs of domestic and international tourists, maximizing the potential and advantages of the World Natural Heritage Ha Long Bay, Deputy Head of the Investment Promotion and Support Board of Quang Ninh province - Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong shared that Quang Ninh prioritizes calling for investment in projects in the fields of tourism, modern, international-scale comprehensive services; deep-water seaport systems, seaport services and international-class cruise ships, associated with the development of a chain of economic zones and coastal urban areas.

“Quang Ninh commits to investors and businesses to implement provincial and local planning plans in the most effective way... At the same time, protect the legitimate and legal rights and interests of investors and businesses in the province; ensure harmony of interests between the state, investors, workers and people,” the Deputy Head of the Board affirmed.

Identifying tourism development as a key economic sector with a high-quality, international-class service system and high added value; being the national tourism locomotive and international tourism center. Quang Ninh province aims to become a typical province of the country in all aspects by 2030, welcoming about 25 million visitors (including about 8 million international visitors), achieving an average tourist growth rate of about 6%/year). Strive to maintain an annual GRDP growth rate of over 10%, GRDP per capita by 2025 reaching over 10,000 USD, by 2030 reaching 19,000 - 20,000 USD.

In 2024, Quang Ninh province aims to welcome 17 million visitors, of which about 3 million are international visitors. This is a great determination in the context of many difficulties and challenges at home and abroad.
