Quang Trach: Urgently harvest winter-spring rice

According to the report of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Quang Trach district, in the winter-spring crop of 2024-2025, the whole district planted more than 3,482 hectares of rice. Currently, most of the winter-spring rice crops in the district have ripened, and farmers are actively speeding up the harvest progress.

According to preliminary assessment, this year's winter-spring crop, the district's rice yield is estimated at 60-61 quintals/ha, down about 3 quintals/ha compared to last year's winter-spring crop (64.28 quintals/ha, considered the best crop ever). In return, the current rice price is high, averaging 72,000 VND/kg of fresh rice (last year it was 65,000 VND/kg), so farmers are very excited.

Deputy Head of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Quang Trach district, Phan Thi Le Hang, said that up to this point, the whole district has harvested about 2,800 hectares.

During this period, there are often erratic thunderstorms and whirlwinds, causing rice plants to fall. Therefore, the Department of Agriculture and Environment advised the District People's Committee to direct localities to encourage farmers to mobilize human resources and means to quickly harvest ripe rice areas, avoiding damage caused by natural disasters; at the same time, proactively source seeds, fertilizers, and water to prepare the soil for the summer-autumn crop.
