According to records, the traffic jam started at around 6:00 a.m. the same day, on the road connecting Cha Lo International Border Gate (Dan Hoa Commune, Minh Hoa) to Na Phau Border Gate (Kham Muon Province, Laos).
At the scene, hundreds of trucks, container trucks, and trailers were lined up waiting to complete procedures at the border gate, stretching for kilometers. National Highway 12A towards Cha Lo International Border Gate was almost paralyzed in one direction.
Drivers said the main cause of the congestion was the road on the other side of the border, from the Na Phau border gate to inland Laos, which is in a state of serious deterioration. The deterioration of the road surface combined with the weather in Laos at the height of the rainy season has made traffic even more difficult; the congestion has lasted for many days now.
As of 4 p.m. the same day, the traffic congestion at the Cha Lo International Border Gate has not been completely cleared. Authorities are working hard to regulate, maintain order, and assist drivers while waiting for the road to clear.
