With the goal of diversifying agricultural products, creating more jobs and increasing income for farmers, creating an interesting destination for tourists inside and outside the district, Que Son District Agricultural Technical Center coordinated with Dong Phu Town People's Committee to implement a model of comprehensive fruit tree planting combined with eco-tourism and experience on an area of over 3 hectares with 5 participating households.

Fruit tree growing model combined with eco-tourism in Que Son district

The model is planned into 4 sub-areas including: the central area with a lake to both create a landscape and serve as an irrigation for the garden, surrounded by Japanese velvet grass; the 2-hectare Le guava growing area; the 1-hectare An Phuoc plum growing area; the conservation and restoration area for some native fruit trees such as tangerines, star apples, jackfruits, and bo quan. On both sides of the main road leading to the model, areca trees, purple flowers, and bean flowers are planted to create highlights.

After nearly 1 year of implementing the model using new techniques, the crops have grown well. Le guava is ready for harvest when the tree is 9 months old, with a yield of about 30kg/tree/year; the guava is large, slightly sour, sweet, and crunchy. As for An Phuoc plum, it is expected to bear fruit when the tree is 24 months old, with an expected yield of 50kg/tree/year.

The model has initially shown its effectiveness, becoming a bright spot in the application of technical advances and the development of green and safe agriculture. Over the past time, the model has attracted many people to visit and learn.

With the achieved results, Que Son Agricultural Technical Center recommends that the provincial agricultural sector and the district People's Committee pay attention to supporting and creating conditions for replicating this model in the coming time.
