King of Jordan meets with Vietnamese leaders

On the afternoon of November 12, King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein of Jordan met with General Secretary To Lam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man.

Jordan sends large-scale business delegation to Vietnam

According to information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , at the meeting, General Secretary To Lam emphasized that the first head-of-state visit between Vietnam and Jordan took place at a very important time, on the occasion of the two countries celebrating the 45th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations.

Appreciating the substantive results of the talks between King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein and President Luong Cuong, General Secretary To Lam affirmed that Vietnam and Jordan have a lot of potential to further promote effective cooperation, not only for the benefit of the two peoples but also for the benefit of the ASEAN region and the Middle East.

The General Secretary affirmed that Vietnam attaches great importance to strengthening relations with Middle Eastern countries, including Jordan, a country with a very important position in the region.

With similarities in policies of peace, independence, self-reliance, and cooperation for mutual development, he said that Vietnam and Jordan will become each other's reliable partners in the two regions, promoting each other's strengths to make breakthroughs in development, for the benefit of the people of the two countries.

General Secretary To Lam also welcomed Jordan's sending of a large-scale business delegation to accompany the King on this visit, contributing to improving the visit's practical effectiveness.

For his part, King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein affirmed that he attached great importance to this visit to Vietnam, agreeing with General Secretary To Lam's assessment of the importance of the current period for the development process of the two countries and two peoples.

Informing General Secretary To Lam about his talks with President Luong Cuong, King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein affirmed that Jordan wishes to promote comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam, especially cooperation between the private sectors of the two sides.

Besides, it is necessary to further strengthen political trust, expand cooperation in defense and security, share experiences and learn from each other in science and technology, and promote people-to-people exchange activities to further enhance understanding between the two peoples.

On this occasion, the King of Jordan invited Vietnam to attend the International Conference on Food Security that Jordan will host in the near future.

Regarding major orientations for bilateral cooperation between Vietnam and Jordan in the coming time, General Secretary To Lam and King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein agreed that in the context of complicated developments in the world and region, Vietnam and Jordan need to promote cooperation to respond to new challenges.

The two leaders also agreed on a number of specific measures to be implemented in the coming time, such as politics - diplomacy, national defense - security, promoting and creating breakthroughs in economic, trade and investment cooperation, especially in the fields of agriculture, health and medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, energy and tourism.

Vietnam is an important partner of Jordan in Southeast Asia.

Also on the afternoon of November 12, at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein of Jordan.

The Jordanian leader stressed his country’s desire to strengthen its partnership with Vietnam in many fields. He affirmed that Vietnam is Jordan’s important partner in Southeast Asia and Jordan is ready to become a gateway for Vietnamese goods to access the Middle East market.

To effectively implement the substantive results of the visit, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein agreed that the two countries need to continue strengthening political trust.

In the economic, trade and investment fields, the two sides agreed to promote cooperation on the basis of promoting the potential, strengths and development requirements of each country, including creating favorable conditions for each other's goods.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam is ready to create conditions for large Jordanian corporations to invest in Vietnam.

He also suggested that businesses of the two countries study the possibility of cooperation and joint investment, especially in the fields of infrastructure development, green economy, digital economy, telecommunications, production, agricultural processing, etc., promoting connection of the startup ecosystem and innovation between the two countries.

Regarding agricultural cooperation, the Prime Minister emphasized that the two sides need to seek new cooperation models to improve efficiency and reduce production costs, such as implementing on-site export projects, saying that this is a model that Vietnam has successfully implemented in a number of countries.

The two leaders also discussed measures to promote cooperation in the fields of education and training, people-to-people exchange, tourism, healthcare, and perfecting the legal framework. The King of Jordan said he would direct relevant agencies to research and soon grant scholarships to Vietnamese students to study Arabic at the request of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

Meeting with Jordanian King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein on November 12, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed that Vietnam is ready to promote multi-field cooperation with Jordan on the basis of mutual benefit.

He stressed that the Vietnamese National Assembly is ready to create favorable legal conditions, promote policies to support bilateral cooperation, and coordinate to supervise the implementation of cooperation agreements between the two countries, thereby promoting comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

Sharing the great losses that the Vietnamese people have suffered after recent natural disasters, King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein expressed his admiration for the indomitable spirit, tradition of diligence and creativity of the Vietnamese people and the socio-economic development achievements that Vietnam has achieved in recent times.

In the context that both countries are promoting the implementation of socio-economic development policies, the King hopes that the two countries will promote cooperation in all fields, especially between the two private sectors.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man respectfully thanked the King of Jordan for sharing his condolences over Vietnam's recent losses due to natural disasters, and informed about the human and material damage that the Vietnamese people had suffered in the recent floods.

In the economic field, the two leaders agreed to facilitate each country's strong products and promote cooperation in the fields of high-tech agriculture, textiles, renewable energy, logistics, and healthcare.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man emphasized the proposal to expand cultural, educational and people-to-people cooperation through student exchanges, scholarships, tourism and cultural activities so that the younger generations of the two nations can understand and bond better. To achieve this goal, the King of Jordan suggested that both sides consider opening a direct flight route between the two countries.

The two leaders also agreed that the two countries' legislative bodies need to improve the effectiveness of parliamentary cooperation, considering this one of the important pillars in the overall bilateral relationship between Vietnam and Jordan.

On this occasion, through the King, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man sent his regards and reiterated the invitation to the leaders of Jordan's two houses to visit Vietnam at an appropriate time, in order to deepen parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.
