Among 331 outstanding contestants from 84 countries and territories, Ninh Quang Thang, a student from Ha Long High School for Gifted Students, excellently won a Bronze Medal at the 37th International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) held in Bolivia. This is one of the world's largest, highest-quality, and most prestigious intellectual competitions, with challenging exam questions requiring exceptional algorithmic thinking, programming, and creativity. The Vietnamese team had four students participating, all of whom won medals. Ninh Quang Thang from Quang Ninh province is proud to have him among them. Prior to this, Ninh Quang Thang won a Bronze Medal at the Asia-Pacific Olympiad in Informatics (APIO) 2025. In national competitions for gifted students, Ninh Quang Thang has also won numerous high-ranking national awards. This is the result of a journey filled with effort, courage, and passion from a student from the mining region, and it also affirms the high-quality education of Quang Ninh province on the international intellectual stage.
To promptly encourage student Ninh Quang Thang, and in support of the Education sector, Quang Ninh province organized a ceremony to commend and award 400 million VND to Ninh Quang Thang and 200 million VND to teacher Ha Dai Ton, the teacher in charge of the 2025 Informatics gifted student team at Ha Long Specialized High School. This reward amount is stipulated in Resolution No. 63/2021/NQ-HĐND dated December 9, 2021, of the 14th term of the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Council, which regulates the reward and support regime for the training of gifted students in Quang Ninh province.
Previously, Trinh Viet Hoang, a student from Ha Long Specialized High School, also excellently won a Silver Medal at the Abu Rayhan-Biruni International Chemistry Olympiad 2025, held in Uzbekistan, which attracted more than 110 contestants from 14 countries. Vietnam selected 4 students from the top 32 students in the selection process for the 2025 International Chemistry Olympiad team. After two rounds of practical and theoretical exams, all 4 students from the Vietnamese team won awards; among them, Trinh Viet Hoang outstandingly won a Silver Medal.
In the 2025 National High School Excellent Student Selection Exam, Quang Ninh province won 88 awards, an increase of 3 awards compared to the previous year, the highest number ever. At the 2025 Hung Vuong Summer Camp Excellent Student Selection Exam held in Phu Tho province, which brought together 33 specialized high schools with nearly 2,000 contestants, students from Ha Long Specialized High School achieved impressive results, winning 61 medals, including 4 Gold medals in Physics, Biology, French, and Informatics; 32 Silver medals and 25 Bronze medals. In the Informatics and Robotics category, the team won 1 Gold medal, 3 Silver medals and 1 Bronze medal. In the 2025 High School Graduation Exam, with an average score of 6.19 points, Quang Ninh ranked 12th out of 34 provinces and cities nationwide.
The achievements of teachers, students, and the education sector in Quang Ninh over the past period have proven the correctness and effectiveness of the province's policies and decisions in the cause of "nurturing human resources," especially high-quality training and strategic investment in advanced education.
