Rashford refuses to take a pay cut

Rashford's future remains uncertain.

The 27-year-old is out for the rest of the season with a hamstring injury suffered before the FA Cup semi-final defeat to Crystal Palace, leaving his future at Aston Villa in doubt. According to BBC Sport , there are currently no talks between Rashford, Manchester United and Aston Villa over a permanent move.

Rashford is not prepared to take a £325,000-a-week pay cut to stay at Villa Park, which puts Aston Villa in a difficult position, especially if they fail to qualify for next season's Champions League.

Coach Emery's team is currently 6th in the rankings, equal on points with Chelsea in 5th place, two points behind Manchester City and three points behind Newcastle United, with only two rounds of the season left.

Rashford's agent also believes manager Ruben Amorim has no intention of recalling him to the United squad. However, Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe could play a key role in Rashford's future at Old Trafford.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is pleased with Rashford's improved form at Aston Villa: "Marcus left Manchester, and maybe that's good for him. I'm delighted to see him doing well. Rashford has an outstanding talent, but for whatever reason things haven't worked out in Manchester over the last few seasons. He's a very talented player."

The Guardian revealed that Rashford is now expected to return to Manchester United for pre-season training in July. This is surprising news, especially after the relationship between the player and coach Amorim almost broke down.
