Mundo Deportivo said the club decided not to meet Vinicius's salary request. Previously, the Brazilian striker expressed his ambition to receive a salary equivalent to Kylian Mbappe.

Vinicius currently earns €15 million per season at the Santiago Bernabeu. If he signs a new contract, the Brazilian will demand a salary similar to Mbappe, who earns €23 million per season (including basic salary and performance bonuses). This means that if Vinicius's demands are accepted, Real will have to increase his salary by nearly 50%.

In the 2024/25 season, Vinicius's form declined, scoring only 22 goals in 58 matches in all competitions. His inconsistent performance was the reason why Real Madrid refused to increase his salary.

According to Cadena SER , President Florentino Perez has identified Vinicius' replacement in case Vinicius decides to leave. Real Madrid's top target is Erling Haaland. The "Los Blancos" leadership hopes that the Norwegian striker will combine well with Mbappe in the squad.
