In the final round of the EURO 2024 qualifiers between Belgium and Azerbaijan, Romelu Lukaku scored a hat-trick after just half an hour of play, with goals scored in the 17th, 26th and 30th minutes. The 30-year-old striker helped Belgium end the first half with a score of 4-0 with a very quick finish in the 37th minute of the match.
In the second half, Arsenal midfielder Leandro Trossard scored the decisive goal in a 5-0 victory for Belgium, helping the home team finish the qualifying round at the top of Group F, just one point ahead of second-place Austria.
Belgium and Austria are the two teams that have secured tickets to EURO 2024 early before the November match.
Four goals in the match against Azerbaijan helped striker Romelu Lukaku move up to seventh place in the list of players with the most goals for the national team.
Lukaku now has 83 goals for his country, the same as UAE legend Ali Mabkhout. And he has also surpassed Poland's Robert Lewandowski.
The Chelsea player on loan at Roma is now just one goal behind Hungary's Ferenc Puskas and six behind Malaysia's Mokhtar Dahari.
But the top four will take a long time for Lukaku to overcome. India's Sunil Chhetri is fourth with 93 goals, while Lionel Messi is third with 106 for Argentina.
Iran icon Ali Daei remains second with 109 goals, while Cristiano Ronaldo continues to score for Portugal and reaches a staggering 128 goals.
