At around 11:23 p.m. on May 22, sea turtle conservation staff at Con Dao National Park (Ba Ria Vung Tau province) discovered a sea turtle nesting and laying eggs at Cat Lon beach, Bay Canh island.
The green turtle (also known as the green turtle) has a tag that does not belong to Con Dao National Park. The tag is located on the left forelimb. The tag is made of stainless steel. The top of the tag is marked PH6854 and the bottom is marked PCP/EPAFI. This is a sea turtle monitoring system in the Philippines.

The sea turtle has a total body length of 93cm and a shell width of 84cm. Here, the turtle dug a nest and laid 84 eggs. Sea turtle conservation officers attached tags to the turtle to monitor its movements.
It is known that Con Dao is 1,200km to 1,300km from the most important nesting area of green turtles in the Philippines, the Turtle Islands.
Green turtles are one of seven species of sea turtles that currently breed in Con Dao. Con Dao district is the main breeding ground for about 90% of green turtles in Vietnam.

From April to October every year, turtles from far-flung ocean areas will come to the waters of Con Dao to breed. During this time, tourists sitting on canoes traveling to small islands often see sea turtles mating.
According to a representative of Con Dao National Park, the turtles' mating period can last 72 hours continuously. After mating several times a week, the male turtles will swim back to the sea to find food, while the female turtles will return to the sandy beach where they previously laid eggs to lay eggs again.
In April 2024, a mother turtle with a Malaysian tracking tag also came here to nest and lay 100 eggs. Statistics show that about 80% of turtles choose Hon Bay Canh to lay eggs.
In order to raise public awareness of the importance of nature conservation, since mid-April, Con Dao National Park has designed a sea turtle conservation tour program, with the main tour guide team being the rangers who are guarding the small islands and doing turtle conservation work.
With this special tour, visitors will be trained by Con Dao National Park on necessary skills, procedures, and conservation regulations before setting foot on the small islands.

Here, visitors can experience nature, diverse flora and fauna, learn about the island's ecosystem, dive to see corals, and participate in cleaning the sandbank to create a nesting ground for turtles. Along with that, visitors will participate in patrolling and guarding safe sea areas to attract turtles to lay eggs.
The tours are expected to be launched this summer with a maximum number of guests of 4-10 people per tour. The cost of a 5-day tour is from 11.7 million VND/guest, a 7-day tour is from 15.7 million VND/guest and a 10-day tour is over 20 million VND/guest.
