Accordingly, Samsung is expected to introduce a 512TB PCIe Gen6 SSD in 2027, while InnoGrit aims to release an enterprise Gen6 AI SSD in 2026.
The move comes in response to the needs of the enterprise and server segments, which will bring significant upgrades in the growing demand for artificial intelligence (AI).

Yoo also announced that the PM1763 Gen6 SSD solution will be introduced in early 2026, with double the performance and a power consumption of only 25W. Not stopping there, Samsung plans to offer higher capacity variants, including the 256TB Gen5 solution that is already deployed and the 512TB Gen6 SSD expected to be available in 2027. These products will be in the 1T EDSFF form factor. In addition, Samsung is also preparing for the launch of the 7th generation Z-NAND with GIDS next year.
Along with Samsung, InnoGrit also announced plans to produce PCIe Gen6 SSDs for the enterprise AI segment, capable of reaching random read speeds of up to 25 million IOPS. The company expects to launch the first PCIe 6.0 SSDs in 2026.
GMIF 2025 also saw the appearance of Silicon Motion - the company introduced the SM8466 PCIe Gen6 SSD controller with the goal of providing speeds up to 28 GB/s and 512 TB capacity. However, these PCIe Gen6 SSD products will only be for the enterprise segment, while the consumer launch may not happen until 2028 - 2029.
