Ready to face the challenge

For Dang Van Phap (24 years old, student at Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics ), difficulties are the driving force that motivates him to strive and mature.

Van Phap was born into a family with difficult circumstances. The haunting poverty made him give up the idea of going to university to make a living after graduating from high school in 2019. In 2021, he was recruited for military service and served in Truong Sa. This was an important turning point that helped Phap completely change his mindset. "Before, I lived a closed life because I was often bullied. But in the army, everyone treated each other like family, I realized that life still has many positive and valuable things" - Phap said.

Serving in Truong Sa is a sacred honor for a naval soldier. The number of military shifts each year is very limited with strict requirements on health, spirit... and Phap and his teammates have tried their best to do their job well. After being discharged from the army, Phap reviewed for the high school entrance exam and was admitted to the logistics technology major. He is passionate about studying, not only in the classroom but also online and loves reading books. "Studying is the shortest path to development and success. I am happy to continue studying after many storms, with dedicated teachers and wonderful classmates" - he said.

Although he entered university later than his peers, Van Phap (in black) is still optimistic and constantly strives.

Looking back on his journey, Phap believes he made the right choices at each stage. When he temporarily put his university studies on hold, Phap worked hard to help his family pay off their debts. And thanks to joining the army, he became healthier, more courageous, and was able to serve the Fatherland, especially during the fierce COVID-19 pandemic. Phuc always remembers the teachings of his military predecessor: "The flood passes and sweeps away everything, but still leaves what is worthy to stay. Don't just see the loss and forget the silt it builds up." He reminded himself to take integrity and loyalty as a guiding principle in life and courageously face all challenges.

Phap is having good academic achievements and striving to become a lecturer in the future. To research, teach, and bring knowledge everywhere to contribute to a better society is his dream.
