Associate Professor, Dr. Tang Chi Thuong - Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health - said that when mentioning the phrase "medical campus", people often immediately think of high-income countries with strongly developed health systems such as the US, UK, Australia, Japan, Korea, Singapore...
But no, today the Ho Chi Minh City health sector can confidently affirm to international colleagues that Vietnam has a "medical campus" (institutional - school campus), which is the Specialized Medical Cluster in Tan Kien commune, Binh Chanh district, Ho Chi Minh City.
This is the first "Institute - School" model medical cluster formed in Vietnam, following the model standards of countries with developed healthcare systems in the world.
According to Tuoi Tre Online , inside Tan Kien Medical Cluster, there are hospitals such as Blood Transfusion - Hematology, Ho Chi Minh City Children's Hospital that have been put into operation with spacious, clean and airy facilities.
Right at the entrance, the parking area for cars and motorbikes is spacious, the walkway for patients is designed to protect from the sun and rain.
Inside the air-conditioned system is fully equipped with amenities, a spacious registration area, and a convenient canteen area for patients.
Many patients said that the inpatient examination and treatment area is no different from a hotel.
Ms. HL (25 years old, from Bac Lieu ) brought her child to the Blood Transfusion - Hematology Hospital for examination and treatment of leukemia. She said that the hospital has very modern facilities and airy rooms, so she feels very secure when treating her child.
"Instead of having to struggle to find the center of Ho Chi Minh City, my child can be treated here in a cool, modern room that is not inferior to a hotel. Moreover, it is very convenient from Bac Lieu, no need to take a long bus ride," said Ms. L.
Dr. Phu Chi Dung, Director of the Blood Transfusion - Hematology Hospital, shared that since the new facility began operating, the quality of patient care has made great strides, demonstrated through comprehensive innovation from infrastructure, treatment processes to patient experience.
The new hospital has a spacious, modern space and a system of patient rooms designed according to international standards, helping to minimize the risk of infection and create a safer, more comfortable treatment environment.
Tan Kien medical cluster will reduce the load on central hospitals.
In 2015, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee approved the planning project of Tan Kien Medical Cluster located in Tan Nhut commune, Binh Chanh district with an area of 73 hectares.
After more than 10 years, specialized hospitals, modern centers, and universities have been put into operation with phase 1 covering an area of more than 33 hectares.
After completion, Tan Kien Medical Cluster includes: Blood Transfusion - Hematology Hospital, Pham Ngoc Thach Medical University and Hospital, Children's Hospital, Forensic Center, 115 Emergency Center, Trauma Hospital.
According to the head of the health sector, Tan Kien Medical Cluster is also expected to help reduce the load on central hospitals and in the future will serve the medical examination and treatment of people in the Mekong Delta provinces.
