Tens of thousands of tons of fresh Vietnamese durian are exported to China every month. (Source: VGP) |
Currently, fresh durian is mainly exported to the Chinese market, accounting for 83% of the total fruit export value.
As of May 30, Huu Nghi International Border Gate ( Lang Son ) recorded customs clearance for 1,601 official durian shipments exported to China, equivalent to nearly 60,000 tons. In May alone, the durian output exported through this border gate reached more than 17,500 tons. It is estimated that in June, the output could reach more than 20,000 tons.
In the southern provinces, durian is in its main harvest season and this product is only exported through international border gates. Of which, Huu Nghi International Border Gate accounts for more than 50% of the total number of vehicles.
China is paying special attention to the quality of Vietnamese durian. Imported shipments to this market are strictly inspected for quality, origin, etc.
Therefore, the Management Board of Dong Dang-Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone and the Department of Industry and Trade of Lang Son province recommend that fresh fruit exporting enterprises should consider and calculate before bringing their trucks to Huu Nghi International Border Gate. In case of congestion, there may be additional costs for storage, goods may have to wait for a long time, affecting the quality of exported fruits.
Units and businesses also need to consider changing the mode of transportation (exporting via international railway border gates) or bringing goods through border gates of other localities to minimize long waiting and parking situations.
In addition, the authorities will continue to discuss with the Pingxiang General Tax Board (China) to agree to allow durian to be exported through Tan Thanh Border Gate.
