Speaking after the match, the President of the Indonesian Football Federation (PSSI), Erick Thohir, expressed his disappointment with the team's result. The head of Indonesian football stated: "Honestly, I am extremely disappointed that the Indonesian national team was eliminated in the Round of 16 of the 2023 Asian Cup after this heavy defeat."
However, the players fought hard, with great spirit and composure. They were not intimidated by the strong opponent."
Coach Shin Tae Yong's contract with the Indonesian Football Federation expires in June 2024. However, despite helping Indonesian football make history by advancing beyond the group stage of the 2023 Asian Cup for the first time, he has not received a new contract.

Billionaire Erick Thohir shared: "He needs to help the Indonesian U23 team get through the group stage to reach the quarterfinals of the U23 Asian Championship next April. If the national team reaches the round of 16 at the 2023 Asian Cup, then the U23 team needs to be among the top eight. That is our goal."
According to CNN Indonesia, Indonesian fans remain satisfied despite their team's 0-4 defeat against Australia. They have urged the Indonesian Football Federation to extend coach Shin Tae Yong's contract until 2027.
In the 2024 AFC U23 Championship, Indonesia's U23 team is in the same group as Australia, Jordan, and Qatar. This is a tough group for coach Shin Tae Yong's squad. This is an important tournament as the top three teams will qualify for the 2024 Olympics.
