The Government Office has just issued Document No. 3565/VPCP-KGVX conveying the direction of Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long requesting to handle information reflecting the increase in food poisoning cases.
The document stated: According to the Government Electronic Information Portal's report on press information reflecting the increase in food poisoning cases, in the first 3 months of 2025, a series of food poisoning cases occurred nationwide, causing hundreds of people to be hospitalized.
In Ho Chi Minh City, in less than a month, the city has had three consecutive cases of suspected mass food poisoning at schools, causing many students to be hospitalized with symptoms of vomiting, stomachache, diarrhea...
Faced with the alarming situation of food poisoning, finding effective and synchronous solutions is an urgent requirement. Not only stopping at handling after the incident occurs, prevention work needs to be given top priority. From tightening inspection and controlling food origins, raising awareness of producers and traders, to strengthening propaganda and educating consumers, all are important links in the chain of actions for a safe food environment.
Regarding the above reflection, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long requested the Ministries of Health, Agriculture and Environment, Industry and Trade, Culture, Sports and Tourism, People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities, according to their assigned functions and tasks, to continue to promote the implementation of Directive No. 38/CT-TTg dated October 11, 2024 of the Prime Minister on strengthening food poisoning prevention.
The Ministry of Health has stepped up the supervision and inspection of food poisoning prevention in localities, especially in key areas, large cities, tourist areas, and places with many collective kitchens and food service establishments for workers, students, and tourists.
People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities shall strengthen inspection, examination and surprise inspection of compliance with food safety regulations in the area, especially at collective canteens, food service establishments, and street food, and strictly handle violations according to regulations.
