"I suffered as a child and am so proud of myself for growing up and not giving up on myself," Bella Hadid began her Instagram post, adding that she is grateful for her mother, Yolanda Hadid, who was also diagnosed with Lyme disease (caused by a spirochete called Borrelia burgdorferi, which affects the skin, nervous system, joints, heart, etc.) in 2012, along with Bella Hadid's youngest brother, Anwar.
"Thank you, Mom, for keeping all my medical records, always being there to protect me, support me, but most of all, believing in me to overcome my illness," she wrote.

"One thing I want to tell you all is: I'm okay and you don't have to worry. The world always works in the most beautiful and painful ways but I need to say that if you fight, things will get better," she continued.
The supermodel explains why she chose to post photos of herself while sick and some private medical records.
"I tried to choose the most positive photos. It was the most memorable experience of my life with new friends, new vision and new thinking. Thank you genius doctor and wonderful nursing team," Bella Hadid expressed.
The supermodel "just finished a long and intense bout of treatment for Lyme disease," according to her sister, supermodel Gigi Hadid.
Bella Hadid is grateful to the medical team who treated her with dedication.
"I will return to modeling when I am ready. I miss you all so much. I love you all so much," she wrote.
In 2016, the model opened up to People about battling Lyme disease while working. "Life isn't always what it seems," Bella Hadid said at the time.
