Ahead of the 2023 Women's World Cup, Stuff (New Zealand)'s supercomputer has collected detailed data on the 32 teams participating in the tournament. According to the newspaper's introduction, the supercomputer has analyzed and programmed each ability like chess. Therefore, the predictions about each team are quite close to the actual strength of each team.
According to calculations, the Vietnamese women's team is rated at 1717, ranking 25th in the tournament. We are ranked above the teams of Zambia, Haiti, New Zealand, Costa Rica, Philippines, Morocco and Panama.
However, the biggest obstacle for the Vietnamese women's team is that they are in a very difficult group with strong opponents such as the US (current World Cup champion), the Netherlands (current World Cup runner-up) and the emerging force of European football, Portugal.
Therefore, the supercomputer only predicted that the Vietnamese women's team's chance of passing the group stage was only 6%. The chance of us reaching the quarter-finals was 1%, while the chances of the Vietnamese golden girls reaching the semi-finals, finals and championship were all under 1%.
The Vietnamese women's team is among the teams with the lowest chance of advancing to the next round of the tournament, ranked only above Panama (5% chance of passing the group stage). Meanwhile, due to being in a relatively easy group including New Zealand, Norway and Switzerland, the Philippines' chance of advancing is up to 28%. The chance of the Philippines reaching the quarter-finals is 4% and the chance of reaching the semi-finals, finals and championship are all under 1%.
