After attending the launch of Swansea's new kit at the weekend, Snoop confirmed his investment in the Welsh team with the ambition of bringing the "Swans" back to the Premier League.

“My love of football is well known, but being invested in Swansea City is truly special. The story of this team and this land resonates with me. It’s a working-class city, a team with an ‘underdog’ mentality – just like me,” Snoop shared.

Swansea is currently owned by a group of investors, Andy Coleman, Brett Cravatt, Nigel Morris and Jason Cohen. The arrival of Snoop Dogg, along with Luka Modric - one of the modern legends of world football - is expected to usher in a new era for the team that has stagnated for many years in the Championship.

As well as being an investor, Snoop Dogg will also become the global media face of Swansea. The club revealed a giant mural of the rapper will be painted on the west stand of the Liberty Stadium.

“We are delighted that Snoop Dogg is joining the Swansea family. He brings global appeal and a genuine passion for football,” said CEO Tom Gorringe.

Snoop Dogg's participation in the new shirt launch was also seen as a humorous response to Wrexham - a team "pumped up" by Hollywood with Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. On social media, Swansea confidently declared: "Nuthin' But a Wales Thang, we are the pride of Wales".

Snoop Dogg’s deal continues a trend of sports and entertainment superstars investing in English football. Last year, rugby legend Tom Brady bought a stake in Birmingham City, who were promoted to League One with a record points tally. Meanwhile, Welsh icon Gareth Bale is reportedly preparing a £40m takeover of Cardiff City.
