Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh - Director of the Department of Industry and Trade said that Japan is a country with a developed economy, among the leading countries in the world. With an economic scale of about 4,200 billion USD, Japan is a market with large consumption power. Japan and Vietnam participate in many economic partnership agreements and free trade agreements, such as: Vietnam - Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (VJEPA), ASEAN - Japan Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (AJCEP), Comprehensive Trans -Pacific Partnership Agreement (CPTPP) and Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP). For Hai Phong, Japan is a trade surplus market with export turnover nearly 2.5 times higher than import turnover. In 2024, Japan will be the third largest export market of Hai Phong enterprises with a turnover of 3.13 billion USD, accounting for nearly 9% of the total export turnover of the whole city; Imports ranked 5th with a turnover of about 1.35 billion USD.

The Director of the Department of Industry and Trade highly appreciated the significance of the meeting, considering it a good opportunity for the city's businesses to learn about specialized exhibitions in Japan in 2025, thereby having more connection channels, approaching potential partners and opening up new cooperation opportunities in the international market.
At the program, delegates listened to a detailed sharing by Mr. Masaki Hatabe - Senior Expert in charge of International Sales and Marketing of RX Exhibitions Japan Group about the scale, development process and impressive operating figures of the group in the field of exhibition organization. Mr. Masaki Hatabe said: After the COVID-19 pandemic, Japanese enterprises are stepping up their search for new partners in the Southeast Asia region, and Vietnam has emerged as a bright spot thanks to its increasingly improved production capacity, attractive investment environment and effective business support policies. This is the golden time for Vietnamese enterprises in general and Hai Phong enterprises in particular to participate more deeply in the supply and production chain of the Land of the Rising Sun.
Also in the working program, representatives of the city's enterprises and RX Exhibitions Japan Group discussed the difficulties that Vietnamese enterprises are facing when participating in international exhibitions such as: participation costs, language barriers, registration procedures, differences in market access; the problem of optimizing machinery investment costs during operations through direct imports; production orientation and export processes for machinery and food industries... The Japanese representative shared experiences and provided support solutions to help Hai Phong Nam enterprises make the most of opportunities from international exhibitions, expand connections and promote cooperation with Japanese partners.

Some specialized exhibitions will take place in Japan, such as: Fashion Tech Expo (March), International Jewellery Tokyo (May), Industrial ODM/EMS Expo, International Optical Fair Tokyo (October), ...
