On June 20, Chief Traffic Inspector of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport Pham Ngoc Dung informed about the handling of two drivers of two taxi companies operating at Tan Son Nhat airport who installed devices to cheat on fares.
According to the Chief of Traffic Police of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport, the taxi fare fraud of the two drivers has greatly affected the image of the city, which is developing towards friendliness and tourism development. Currently, the authorities have initially punished the drivers and the transport company.
“In the near future, the Traffic Inspectorate will propose that the Department of Transport issue a document to rectify taxi transport businesses. Specifically, transport businesses must manage drivers and employees well to avoid fare fraud. Car companies must sign a commitment not to repeat the offense.
In addition, the Department of Transport Inspectorate will plan and coordinate with relevant professional units to conduct inspections of taxi transport activities in Ho Chi Minh City," said Mr. Pham Ngoc Dung.

"In terms of state management, the Department Inspectorate will propose to the Department of Transport and report to the City People's Committee to handle transport units that repeatedly violate the law. If people have doubts and discover unusually high taxi fares, they should immediately contact the airport hotline or the Department of Transport, we will coordinate and handle the matter," said Mr. Pham Ngoc Dung.
