According to the report assessing the implementation of the socio -economic development plan for 2023 and the plan for 2024, the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City said that since the beginning of the year, 468 news and articles have been discovered with content distorting, opposing the Party and State, defaming and insulting leaders.

In addition, the Department of Information and Communications also transferred 76 foreign social media accounts that were posting toxic information, false and hostile views to the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information for consideration and handling according to regulations.

In 2023, the Department of Information and Communications plans to review more than 2,000 websites and social networking sites. Thereby, it will resolutely rectify, handle or transfer to the Department Inspectorate for handling according to regulations and it is estimated that it will handle more than 120 cases.

Regarding the review and rectification of the situation of "newspaperization" of magazines, general electronic information sites, and social networks, the Department invited 7 units to work, and at the same time coordinated with relevant authorities to handle 4 cases related to advertising in cyberspace.

Previously, the Department of Information and Communications also reported to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee on the situation of advertising on the internet, especially cross-border advertising activities into Vietnam, which are increasingly popular and extremely complicated. Many advertisements compete unfairly, violate intellectual property rights, violate culture, customs and traditions... affecting the people.

Regarding the 2024 plan, the Department of Information and Communications said it will continue to improve the city's administrative procedure settlement information system. Digital signatures will be integrated into the system so that people and businesses can directly sign electronic forms, which have the same legal value as handwritten signatures and seals, creating favorable conditions for people and businesses when performing online public services.

In addition, the organization operates the City's shared digital platforms such as: Digital map platform; socio-economic synthesis platform; digitalization and storage platform; unified mobile application platform; platform for receiving and processing people's feedback and suggestions via hotline 1022 (upgraded); Ho Chi Minh City data analysis and exploitation platform, etc.

Currently, the Department is implementing the City's Data Management Strategy, focusing on three groups of data; in which, the group of data on people includes administrative data, civil status, health, education , social security; the group of financial - business data includes aggregated data and statistics on budget revenue and expenditure, public investment management, enterprises - individual business households; the group of data on land - urban areas includes land data, geographic information base data, construction industry data, transportation, planning - architecture.
