The Daily Mail on August 10 reported on the shocking story of Lil Tay. Lil Tay, 14, and her brother Jason Tian, 21, were announced by a family member on social media on August 9 that they had both passed away. A current manager of Lil Tay confirmed the news, but the rapper's father did not confirm it.
Immediately after the sad news spread and surprised the public, Lil Tay spoke up to confirm that she was still alive and well. She said that her Instagram account had been hacked. She also revealed that her brother was also alive and well.
Lil Tay shocked everyone when she confirmed that she is still alive and well.
"It's been a very traumatic 24 hours! All day yesterday I was bombarded with tearful phone calls from loved ones while trying to sort out this mess" – Lil Tay wrote.
Lil Tay's former manager Harry Tsang, in a conversation with Daily Mail, expressed suspicion that Lil Tay staged his death to attract attention and regain his glory.
"When I heard that Lil Tay was still alive and well, I was relieved that she was safe. However, I believe that the reported Instagram hacking may not have happened," said the former manager.
He added that there were two points of doubt in Lil Tay’s explanation. One, it usually takes less than 24 hours to restore a hacked Instagram account. Second, Lil Tay’s brother, who is known for using extreme tactics to gain attention and online fame, raised doubts about the motive behind the incident.
If his brother and Lil Tay deliberately used the trick of faking their death to regain fame, according to Harry Tsang, this would be an irresponsible act that would negatively impact public sentiment.
Not only Harry Tsang was skeptical, but some netizens also wondered the same thing after Lil Tay's correction.
The truth of the story is still unclear. Lil Tay has yet to respond to the suspicions of his former manager and some members of the public.
