Having won 3-0 against Hong Kong (China) at the 2024 AVC Challenge Cup (now renamed the AVC Nations Cup), it was no surprise when coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet fielded not the strongest lineup of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team in the opening match of the tournament at home this year.
Vietnam's starting lineup lacks key players
Without Thanh Thuy, Bich Tuyen, Lam Oanh, Le Thanh Thuy or Nguyen Trinh, the Vietnamese team still proved their superiority over Hong Kong China in the first half. The return of Nguyen Thi Uyen brought reliability in the first pass of the Vietnamese team and after only 20 minutes, the home team won 25-16.
Hong Kong China played hard but could not improve their skills
Captain Thanh Thuy was on the field in the second half and Nguyen Trinh, Bich Tuyen, and Le Thanh Thuy played key roles in the Vietnamese team's lineup in the third half. Just like the first half, the home team had the upper hand as they won the next two matches with scores of 25-13 and 25-10 in about 41 minutes.
Vietnam team won 3-0 after only 61 minutes
Winning as predicted very easily against Hong Kong (China) in the opening match, the Vietnam team preserved its strength, kept the strength of key players and tested some "hot" positions on the field. This is a preparation step for the Vietnam team to play the second match against strong opponent Chinese Taipei on the evening of June 8.
Thanh Thuy and teammates are ready to face strong opponent Chinese Taipei
Chinese Taipei is determined to be the opponent competing for one of the two semi-final tickets with the Vietnamese team in Group A, along with India. In the early match, Chinese Taipei easily defeated the Australian team with a score of 3-0, including a game in which Australia did not score 10 points.
