Son La overcomes difficulties and sustainably develops rubber trees

The Rubber Planting Development Program in the province is implemented in 133 villages and sub-areas in 19 communes and towns of 6 districts: Muong La, Quynh Nhai, Mai Son, Thuan Chau, Van Ho, Yen Chau. The total rubber area in the province in 2023 is over 5,260 hectares; the area for products is 4,324 hectares, the output is 3,800 tons. Regarding land use management, Son La Rubber Joint Stock Company is managing and using land with a total area of over 7,742 hectares; the existing rubber area only reaches nearly 52.62% of the land area granted investment policy. Regarding the labor situation, as of the reporting time, there were 848 workers officially recruited as workers and participating in compulsory social insurance. The security and order situation in some rubber growing areas is complicated, in some places people have had prolonged petitions; The awareness of some people in rubber growing areas is still limited, leading to the occurrence of cutting and pruning in Yen Chau, Thuan Chau, Quynh Nhai, and Muong La districts.

At the meeting, delegates focused on discussing and evaluating the results of the implementation of cooperation between Son La province and the Vietnam Rubber Industry Group, focusing on the following contents: Plan to return land for unused and ineffective land area estimated at over 938.6 hectares; Plan to distribute latex to people; Plan to refund investment costs on land to Son La Rubber Joint Stock Company;...

Speaking at the meeting, Comrade Nguyen Thanh Cong requested the Standing Office of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to absorb the opinions exchanged at the meeting to promptly complete the report on the results of the implementation of the minutes of cooperation agreement between Son La province and the Vietnam Rubber Industry Group to report to the Standing Committee and the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee. He requested departments, branches; People's Committees of districts and Son La Rubber Joint Stock Company to continue to focus on effectively implementing the contents of the cooperation agreement; Strengthen management to ensure social order and safety, reduce rubber tree felling cases, handle violations; Organize and effectively implement the plan to return land to people. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assigned the People's Committees of districts to establish working groups to coordinate with Son La Rubber Joint Stock Company to review the quality of current rubber plantations; and continue to promote propaganda for people not to fell rubber trees in localities./.
