“This afternoon, when I passed Phung Hung Street ( Hanoi ), I was very surprised to see my phone displaying the 5G signal symbol instead of the usual 4G. Currently, I have not registered for any 5G service package,” said Trung Nam, an office worker in Dong Da District, Hanoi .

Mr. Nam said that at that time he was on a personal business trip, so he did not have the opportunity to test the connection speed of the 5G network in this area. However, he had high hopes that the 5G network would bring faster and more stable connections than the 4G network generation currently deployed in Vietnam.
According to Dan Tri reporters, in recent days, users in many provinces and cities such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Hue, Nghe An, Thai Binh , Nam Dinh, Ha Long, etc. have also reported that their smartphones can connect to the 5G network.
Currently, in supported areas, users can experience 5G connectivity through new generation smartphones that support this technology. Users can use it directly on a 4G SIM card.
The carriers that successfully auctioned 5G spectrum, VNPT, Viettel and MobiFone, have not yet made any comments.
Previously, the Ministry of Information and Communications said 2024 would be the year of 5G commercialization. According to the telecommunications infrastructure planning, Vietnam aims for a 5G network with a minimum speed of 100Mbps by 2025. By 2030, 5G waves will cover 99% of the population.
