On July 21, 2025, the Board of Directors of SSI Securities Corporation (HoSE: SSI) officially appointed Mr. Nguyen Duc Thong (born in 1988) as General Director for a 3-year term, replacing Mr. Nguyen Hong Nam.
According to the introduction, Mr. Thong has an academic background at Cambridge University (UK), with working experience at international financial institutions such as Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley.
Mr. Thong joined SSI 6 years ago and held many important positions such as Director of Derivatives Trading, Director of Block, Assistant to the Chairman of the Board of Directors. In early March 2024, he was appointed as Deputy General Director of the company.
SSI Chairman Nguyen Duy Hung said this was “a strategic decision”, demonstrating the direction of transferring leadership generations and the expectation of bringing the company into a breakthrough development phase.
At the same time, SSI announced its separate financial report for the second quarter of 2025 with total revenue reaching VND 2,909 billion and pre-tax profit of VND 1,144 billion, up nearly 30% and 10% respectively over the same period in 2024. Consolidated estimates show that Q2 revenue reached about VND 3,030 billion, and pre-tax profit was about VND 1,197 billion - the highest quarterly figure in the past 4 years.

Notably, as of June 30, 2025, SSI's total assets reached VND90,978 billion, equity VND27,687 billion - up 25% and nearly 7% respectively compared to the beginning of the year. Outstanding margin loans and advances reached more than VND33,134 billion, equivalent to more than USD1.2 billion - exceeding the lending scale of some small banks. This is also a record margin lending level of this securities company. In the second quarter, SSI recorded interest from loans and receivables of more than VND830 billion, up 60% over the same period.
In addition to lending activities, the securities services segment recorded more than VND 1,345 billion in revenue, accounting for 46% of total revenue, of which brokerage, custody and investment consulting activities alone reached VND 515 billion - an increase of 57% compared to the first quarter. Investment activities accounted for the largest proportion with more than VND 1,426 billion.
Market liquidity in the second quarter increased by 35% compared to the previous quarter, helping SSI improve its brokerage market share to 10.85%, firmly in the top 2 of the industry, narrowing the gap with the leading company VPS.
Accumulated in the first 6 months of 2025, SSI's consolidated revenue is estimated at more than VND 5,000 billion, pre-tax profit is about VND 2,161 billion - respectively completing 53.9% and 52.8% of the yearly plan.
