Thanks to the State's development incentive policy and the proactive change in operating methods, many cooperatives have escaped the old subsidy mindset and switched to an effective and transparent business model, linking the interests of members with the collective interests. From agriculture , aquaculture, to small-scale industry, services, etc., cooperatives are increasingly expanding their scale, applying technology, improving product quality, connecting members through the value chain and gradually asserting their position in the market.
As one of the typical new cooperatives with value chain linkages with the main product being silkworm cocoons, Agricultural Cooperative 118 in Hong Tri Commune (Bao Lac) was established with the goal of developing the silkworm farming profession in the western mountainous region of the province. Realizing the great potential of this traditional profession, the cooperative proactively linked with businesses to implement a model of consuming silkworm cocoons for its members. With more than 30 member households and a mulberry growing area of more than 10 hectares, the cooperative is gradually building a closed production - consumption value chain.
Director of Cooperative 118 Nong Van Hoan said: We started implementing the contract in 2021, when we connected with a silk enterprise in Lam Dong . Accordingly, the Cooperative committed to purchasing all qualified silkworm cocoons from members, then classifying and reselling them to partners under long-term contracts.
The procurement process is strictly implemented, starting from the stage of providing silkworm breeds, training in breeding techniques, to monitoring the quality of cocoons. Prices are negotiated for each crop, but always ensure stability and are 10-15% higher than the free market. Thanks to that, people no longer have to worry about "good harvest, low price" as before.
Ms. Hoang Thi Loan, a cooperative member, shared: In the past, when there was no cooperative to guarantee consumption, people often had to sell silkworm cocoons to traders at unstable prices, or even not being able to sell them. Now, on average, each household can earn from 4 to 6 million VND/month from silkworm farming.
The mulberry growing and silkworm raising model of Cooperative 118 not only helps stabilize output for silkworm breeders but is also gradually becoming a profession that helps reduce poverty quickly and sustainably and improve and increase farmers' income.
Tan Viet A Agricultural Cooperative, in Minh Tam Commune (Nguyen Binh), currently owns the Tan Viet A vermicelli brand, which is certified as a 4-star OCOP product. Starting production and brand building in 2017, by 2023, the product will be certified as a 4-star OCOP product. Thanks to the attention to implementing solutions and constantly improving product quality, the cooperative's products have now reached far and wide, present throughout the domestic market. In particular, Tan Viet A vermicelli currently meets all standards for export to the US market.
Director of Tan Viet A Agricultural Cooperative Tran Duc Hieu shared: Tan Viet A vermicelli products exported to the US market is a major development step for the Cooperative, proving that the unit's efforts in management, constantly improving product quality, building brands, and developing markets have achieved the best results.
Identifying the collective economy as one of the important factors to promote the development of the rural economy in the right direction and sustainably, in recent times, the province has had drastic and specific solutions, suitable to the actual situation of the locality. In particular, the role of the Party Committee and the government in leading, directing, organizing and implementing policies and guidelines related to the collective economy is the key factor. The province has promoted information and propaganda work widely among cadres, party members and people of all walks of life about the nature, role as well as mechanisms and policies for the development and improvement of the effectiveness of the collective economy, and commended typical and advanced models in the operation of cooperatives for replication.
Along with promoting propaganda, the province focuses on training, vocational training, and improving the quality of human resources for the economic zone. For the management team, strengthen coordination in training, fostering and improving professional qualifications, knowledge of economic integration, science - technology and experience in organizing production and business activities to meet the requirements of tasks in the new period. At the same time, focus on consulting and supporting joint ventures and market expansion; create conditions for economic zone entities to access programs, projects, and plans to enjoy preferential policies and support from the State; promote the implementation of policies to encourage, support, and facilitate economic zone development in a positive but solid manner, based on the actual needs of members; arouse the sense of autonomy and self-improvement of economic zone organizations associated with market needs.
At the same time, seek support resources to help cooperatives access and create motivation for production and business development, especially financial support channels, application of science and technology in production. Cooperative support activities are implemented promptly in accordance with regulations. From 2024 to present, from the province's sources, the Cooperative Union has supported cooperatives to participate in 14 trade promotion events; participated in fairs and conferences to promote and consume products with 20 cooperatives; supported Phuc Hoa Agricultural - Forestry Cooperative to distribute corn seeds and fertilizers to 91 households participating in the association in Ngoc Dong and Hanh Phuc communes (Quang Hoa), Thuy Hung commune (Thach An); supported Tan Bach Agricultural Cooperative to provide fertilizers to 99 households participating in the association in Quang Trong commune (Thach An) and Le Chung commune (Hoa An)...
Thanks to the good implementation of synchronous solutions, the collective economic model in the whole province has developed quite stably. According to statistics, the whole province currently has 446 cooperatives, 26 cooperative groups, 678 interest groups, 1 Cooperative Union with nearly 13,000 members operating in many fields such as: Agriculture, forestry, trade, services, construction materials production, environmental sanitation. All cooperatives operate according to the Cooperative Charter, effective production, business - services, promoting the role of connecting with businesses in consuming agricultural products for members and households in the area; helping members participate in training, transfer, application of science - technology, gradually transforming the structure of crops, livestock, and production methods. Among them, there are a number of typical cooperatives that have affirmed their brands in the market, created output for agricultural products and created jobs for local people such as: Tan Viet A Cooperative in Nguyen Binh with Tan Viet A vermicelli products, achieving 4-star OCOP; Yen Cong Mushroom Growing Cooperative in Hung Dao Commune, City; Agricultural Cooperative 118 in Bao Lac District has purchased and purchased mulberry products, bringing high income to farmers. In 2024 alone, cooperatives in the area paid over 23 billion VND to the budget. The average revenue of cooperatives reached about 609.950 million VND/unit/year and created jobs for 2,800 workers, with an average income of 55 million VND/person/year.
Affirming the growth of the collective economy in the province in recent times, Vice Chairman of the Cooperative Union Ha Ngo Tuan emphasized: Some cooperatives have been very successful in organizing production according to the value chain, closely linked with businesses and markets. Cooperatives not only provide input services, but also consume output for members, helping to reduce risks and increase production efficiency. Many cooperatives apply high technology, organic production, traceability, meeting market demand in and outside the province. In particular, cooperative models associated with OCOP and community tourism are showing a very promising direction.
