Syria: Drones attack military academy

On October 5, the Syrian Ministry of Defense said that a drone attack on a military academy in the country's Homs province killed many civilians and soldiers and injured dozens of others.

The incident occurred as the academy was holding a graduation ceremony. The drones involved in the attack were armed. The Syrian Defense Ministry blamed terrorist groups for the attack but did not name them. According to a Syrian security source, the country's defense minister attended the ceremony but left minutes before the attack. No organization has yet claimed responsibility for the incident.

Meanwhile, Western media quoted information from the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) as saying that at least 7 Syrian security personnel were killed and more than 20 others were injured in the incident. Syrian state television reported that this was a terrorist attack.
